Mets Win NLCS Game 2 vs. Dodgers as Vientos' Grand Slam, NY Offense Excites MLB Fans

After a stagnant offense led to a shutout loss against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series, the New York Mets bounced back for a 7-3 win in Game 2 on Monday.

The Mets' offense woke up from its Game 1 slump early on Monday as Francisco Lindor hit a solo home run in the first inning. New York added another run in the second on an RBI double from Tyrone Taylor.

The Dodgers opted to pitch around Lindor in the second, setting up a bases-loaded situation for Mark Vientos, and he delivered with a grand slam to make it 6-0.

Los Angeles managed to chip away at the lead to make it 6-3 by the bottom of the sixth inning, but Starling Marte drove in another run to add some insurance and give the Mets enough of an advantage to tie the series.

After the win, fans praised Vientos and the Mets' offense for coming to life in Game 2.

Though Vientos' homer lifted the Mets to a win in Game 2, they've still got work to do to reach the World Series for the first time since 2015. New York's offense showed up on Monday, but it can't afford another performance like that of Game 1 against a potent Dodgers lineup.

The Mets will get to go home to Citi Field on Wednesday where they'll look to keep their offense hot.
