
World Series 2024: Latest Predictions from MLB Fans, Experts amid Playoff Bracket
Three of the most popular teams in Major League Baseball have advanced to the championship series round of the postseason.
The Los Angeles Dodgers set up their NLCS clash with the New York Mets on Friday night. The NLCS begins on Sunday night in Los Angeles.
The New York Yankees will find out their ALCS opponent on Saturday. The Cleveland Guardians and Detroit Tigers will do battle in Game 5 of their ALDS matchup.
The New York-Los Angeles NLCS matchup already generated a ton of buzz after the Dodgers moved on and it should create a tremendous prelude to the Fall Classic.
Carlos Mendoza's Mets are 72-42 since they last saw the Dodgers at Citi Field on May 29.
Since then, Francisco Lindor has looked every bit like the National League Most Valuable Player, but the only problem for him is Shohei Ohtani plays in the same league.
The Ohtani-versus-Lindor matchup will be at the top of the marquee for the entirety of the NLCS. Both teams have a pitching edge as well. The Mets have a deeper starting rotation, but the Dodgers excel with their bullpen.
New York's presence in the NLCS goes against what most experts at ESPN thought would happen before the postseason began. A majority of ESPN's experts picked the Philadelphia Phillies, who lost to the Mets in the NLDS, to represent the National League in the World Series.
Over in the American League, the Yankees had the most votes from ESPN to reach the ALCS and then represent the AL in the World Series.
Five of the six experts at CBS Sports polled before the postseason picked either the Yankees or Dodgers to be in the World Series.
The one matchup already set in the next round is expected to be an incredible matchup, one that is likely to go six or seven games. The baseball writers at the Bergen Record in northern New Jersey picked the Dodgers to win the NLCS in seven games.
The Yankees will be favored to win the ALCS against either the Guardians or Tigers. MLB analyst Chris Rose said that no matter who the Yankees face in the ALCS they have an easy path to a World Series berth.
The potential of a Subway Series in the Fall Classic is already starting to excite everyone who watches baseball.
The Mets, including closer Edwin Diaz, are focused on their business in the NLCS first.
The Mets-Dodgers NLCS begins on Sunday and the ALCS starts Monday at Yankee Stadium. The World Series is scheduled to start on October 25.
