NFL Trade Rumors: Saints Seen as 'Legitimate' Davante Adams Contender amid Buzz
The New Orleans Saints are viewed as a "legitimate contender" to acquire star wide receiver Davante Adams in a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders, according to CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones.
Adams informed the Raiders that he preferred to be traded on Tuesday, although no deal was imminent at the time (via NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo). He was ruled out of Las Vegas' Week 5 matchup with the Denver Broncos due to a hamstring injury.
The Saints have dropped their past two games after starting the season with a 2-0 record.

With New Orleans attempting to get back on track, the potential addition of Adams could provide a spark. He'd immediately become part of one of the league's most imposing wide receiver trios alongside Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Wednesday that the Saints and New York Jets are "high" on the receiver's wishlist "if not at the very top."
Adams would also be reunited with quarterback Derek Carr once again. They were teammates in college at Fresno State from 2012-13 before joining forces on the Raiders in 2022.
Carr welcomed the idea of teaming up with Adams for a third time when speaking to reporters on Thursday.
"I think all 32 quarterbacks would love to play with Davante. We would welcome that," he said, per ESPN's Katherine Terrell. "I don't know if I can get in trouble for saying that. I just think everyone kind of knows that ... I think everyone would love to play with Tay. I would obviously welcome playing with him again if that ever worked out in our careers."
New Orleans and New York are far from the only potential suitors for Adams, though. The Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys and Buffalo Bills have all reportedly expressed interest in the receiver.
While Adams' production to start the 2024 season paled in comparison to previous years, he was still able to haul in 18 receptions for 209 yards and a touchdown through three games.
If the Saints continue to struggle following a promising start to the year, they could show an increased willingness to acquire the six-time Pro Bowl wideout.
