You always expect some of your high school classmates will go on to enjoy more professional success than you, but it must be tough when one of them becomes a bona fide world champion.
WWE star Cody Rhodes recently attended his 20-year reunion Lassiter High School in Marietta, Georgia.
Before fully entering the family business, Rhodes made a name for himself on the mat at Lassiter and once said he turned down the opportunity to wrestle at Penn State. He was also a member of the high school drama club, which further pointed to where his destiny lay.
The 39-year-old has never shied away from emphasizing his Georgia roots.
Most recently during his cinematic exchange with Roman Reigns on Friday's SmackDown, he pushed back after Reigns, who played football at Georgia Tech, claimed Atlanta is "my city."
The American Nightmare said "multiple generations of my family have bled for this city and in this city."
Returning to Lassiter is another sign of how Rhodes maintains a deep connection to his hometown.
