WWE and AEW Feuds We Want to See Before the End of 2024

Donald WoodSep 22, 2024

Without a doubt, 2024 has been one of the greatest years in modern wrestling history. With WWE and AEW showcasing the best talent in the industry, fans have turned their attention to the rest of the year.

As good as 2024 has been—AEW showed its teeth with All In and All Out, and WWE is setting the stage for an elite Bad Blood event—there are several marquee storylines and feuds wrestling fans desperately need before the calendar flips to 2025.

Here are the feuds needed to cement the past year in the annals of time.

Roman Reigns vs. The Rock

The biggest possible feud WWE could book to end 2024 would be The Rock returning to television to attack Roman Reigns and set up their eventual one-on-one matchup at WrestleMania 41.

Before The Rock returns to WWE programming, though, Reigns needs to go to battle against the New Bloodline. With the former champion flanked by his three associates and Solo Sikoa surrounded by his loyal soldiers, the perfect place for group warfare would be in a War Games match at Survivor Series.

On paper, Reigns' group should dominate, but that is when The Rock should return, costing the Original Tribal Chief and his team the victory. In addition, Cody Rhodes and the Undisputed WWE Championship will play a role in the build to the WrestleMania match between Reigns and The Rock.

Most of their interactions will occur in 2025, but setting the stage by letting The Rock ruin Reigns' Survivor Series would create a buzz that would carry the company through the notoriously slow winter holiday.

Adam Cole vs. MJF

MJF is one of the most talented all-around performers in wrestling, but a loss to Will Ospreay at All In and a victory over Daniel Garcia at All Out have left his character with momentum, but no clear direction for the rest of the year.

Now more than ever, MJF needs Adam Cole.

Cole has been out of action for nearly a year due to injury, but rumors surfaced earlier this week that the former champion was backstage at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania during the September 18 episode of AEW Dynamite. He was reportedly walking without a limp.

When he does return, Cole will need a major storyline to take advantage of his superstar status. With plenty of history as a team and a foe against MJF, the two men could bring the best out of each other and provide AEW with the kind of program that carries the company through the rest of 2024 and into 2025.

Bianca Belair vs. Jade Cargill

While all eyes were on Bianca Belair after her pinfall loss to Iyo Sky on Raw, the person paying the most attention should be Jade Cargill. The loss should be one of the first steps to Cargill turning on her partner and setting up one of the company's most anticipated feuds.

Belair and Cargill currently hold the Women's Tag Team Championships together, but the money for WWE is in an eventual breakup and feud between the talented performers.

While holding the tag team titles was a nice placeholder, Belair is a former world champion who deserves much better. On the other hand, Cargill is still learning on the fly but has the look of a top star and should be fighting for a world title as soon as possible.

As a result, the team's losses should begin to add up, ultimately culminating in Cargill walking out on Belair and losing the titles. The personal animosity between the two would be palpable, creating one of the company's best feuds of 2024.
