WWE Rumors: Sheamus Signs Long-Term Contract Extension After Return from Injury

Mike ChiariSep 17, 2024

Veteran WWE Superstar Sheamus reportedly agreed to a new, long-term contract with the company recently.

According to Fightful Select (h/t H Jenkins of Ringside News), WWE added time to his previous contract due to a shoulder injury that kept him out from August 2023 until April 2024, but Sheamus then signed an entirely new deal to remain with WWE moving forward.

The Celtic Warrior is currently embroiled in a rivalry with Pete Dunne, who was previously part of Sheamus' Brawling Brutes stable under the name Butch.

Dunne attacked Sheamus with a shillelagh several weeks ago and then cost him an opportunity at the Intercontinental Championship by interfering in a Triple Threat match against Braun Strowman and Ludwig Kaiser.

That led to a match between them on Monday's episode of Raw, which Dunne won after hitting Sheamus with a cricket bat while the referee's view was obstructed.

Prior to the match, Sheamus noted that his feud had become personal since Dunne cost him the one major accolade he has yet to achieve in WWE in the form of the IC title.

The 46-year-old Irishman wasn't using hyperbole when he said that, as he is one of the most decorated Superstars in WWE history.

Along with being a three-time WWE champion and one-time world heavyweight champion, Sheamus is a five-time tag team champion and three-time United States champion.

He also won the King of the Ring in 2010, the Royal Rumble match in 2012 and the Money in the Bank ladder match in 2015.

Sheamus made his official WWE debut as part of the ECW brand back in 2009, and just 166 days after that debut, he beat John Cena for the WWE Championship.

He remained a top star for several years after that landmark victory, and although he has settled into more of a midcard role in recent years, Sheamus remains a highly valuable commodity for WWE due to his star power and penchant for being able to have a "banger" match with anyone on the roster.
