U.S. Army All-American Game 2012: 4 Bold Predictions for the Game
While everybody is caught up in the hype of all the bowl games, there is a game this weekend that will host the future of college football. It's called the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, and it will feature tons of the top prospects in the country.
The top high school players will take the field one last time and show the country what they have to offer. Many will also make their commitments on which school they will end up playing football for. This game should be very exciting and will tell a lot about which teams will be in better shape, as several programs will land some top players.
With the game a day away, here are a few bold predictions for the game.
Dorial Green-Beckham Goes to Missouri
1 of 4One of the main reasons I'm watching this game is to see where the top wide receiver prospect ends up.
Dorial Green-Beckham is a ridiculous 6'6" and at 220 pounds, he is an absolute beast. He's the ultimate deep threat and as big of a red zone target you're ever going to find. The guy can flat out play football and will likely become a starter right away, regardless of where he ends up.
Although he's shown a ton of interest in Oklahoma and Texas, I have him going to Missouri. It's a program that's on the rise, will be in the SEC, and is in his home state. It just makes sense. He'd also be the star on the team as they are lacking any true No.1 wide receiver talent.
The other schools have a lot to offer but expect a surprise here.
Barry Sanders Jr. Goes to Florida
2 of 4I know everybody is reporting that the son of great running back Barry Sanders will go to Stanford. But these kids change their minds in a heartbeat and it's hard imagining him there. Andrew Luck is leaving and so is that great offensive line.
I'd have him going to Florida.
He'd get to play against the top competition in the SEC and would get playing time immediately with Chris Rainey and Jeff Demps on their way out.
It just doesn't make much sense to go to a school like Stanford that looks like they're falling back to mediocrity. Unless, he just wants to play in a conference that plays little defense.
Shaquille Thompson Stays in Cali
3 of 4Landon Collins made his commitment last night, Saturday another top safety in Shaq Thompson is expected to make his decision as well. I think he'll end up a California Golden Bear.
Thompson is from California, so he'd be close to home with this decision. He'd also be joining a very nice recruiting class, that includes a top wide receiver in Bryce Treggs, top quarterback in Zach Kline, and cornerback Christian Okafor. This team is a really making strides, and they could easily become contenders soon in the watered-down Pac-12.
With schools like Washington, Notre Dame, Oregon, and USC extending an offer, this would be a somewhat surprising move.
Stefon Diggs Is the Player of the Game
4 of 4I would have a bold prediction for where Diggs ends up, but he plans on dragging his decision out for as long as possible. So, let's just say he's going to be the player of the game. In a contest that features so many talented players it's hard to predict something like this.
But Diggs is an extremely fast receiver that loves the bright lights. Look for him to be very effective after the catch and make big plays. He could also take a couple the distance in the return game as well if the opposing team isn't careful.
If you haven't seen this kid in action yet, make sure to tune in.
He's special.
