NFL Agent: Cowboys Should Make Dak Prescott Highest-Paid QB If They Reach Super Bowl

Zach BacharAug 29, 2024

One anonymous NFL agent believes that the Dallas Cowboys should make Dak Prescott the highest-paid player in the league if he's able to lead the team to a Super Bowl during the 2024 season.

"Pay Dak and make him the game's highest-paid QB — if he helps the Cowboys reach or win a Super Bowl this season," the agent said, per Ben Standig of The Athletic.

Prescott will carry a $55.1 million cap hit in 2024 before he's slated to hit free agency in 2025.

The 31-year-old confirmed that he's discussing a new contract with the team on Aug. 15 and seemed optimistic about an eventual agreement.

"Good conversations are going on, I will say that," Prescott said, via Jon Machota of The Athletic. "… A lot of confidence [that something will get done]."

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones recently claimed that an extension occurring before the start of the regular season wouldn't be realistic, but he's still expressed his support of the signal-caller.

"I'm such a fan of Dak's and appreciate all of the great things that we all know that is there," Jones said on Wednesday, per ESPN's Todd Archer. "And I appreciate his work ethic more than anything out here. I can't tell you how proud I am that we've got him this year to start this campaign."

Prescott is coming off a strong 2023 campaign, recording a league-leading 36 touchdown passes to go along with 4,516 yards through the air.

He struggled in Dallas' playoff loss, throwing two interceptions against the Green Bay Packers in the wild card round. Prescott hasn't been able to lead they Cowboys beyond the divisional round in his career, owning a record of 2-5 in seven postseason starts.

If he's able to help Dallas earn its first Super Bowl appearance since 1995, it's easy to see why Jones could be willing to make him the highest-paid player in the NFL.
