Yankees' Jazz Chisholm Jr. Reinstated from 10-Day IL amid Elbow Injury

Jack MurrayAug 23, 2024

Jazz Chisholm is back for the Bronx Bombers.

The New York Yankees announced that the 26-year-old had been reinstated off of the 10-day injured list prior to the team's game against the Colorado Rockies on Friday.

Chisholm has not played since Aug. 12 after suffering a sprained left elbow. Surgery was considered, but ultimately the versatile Chisholm did not have a lengthy stay on the IL and will be available as the Yankees try to advance towards an AL East title.

Oswaldo Peraza was optioned to AAA Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in a corresponding move.

Chisholm was acquired by the Yankees in July and has been a strong contributor since donning pinstripes for the first time. He is hitting .316/.361/.702 with seven home runs and 11 RBIs in 14 games with the organization.

The one-time All-Star is on pace to break his games-played record (124) and has a strong chance to reach the postseason for the third time in his career.

New York is currently 75-53 and holds a 1.5-game lead over the Baltimore Orioles for first place in the AL East. Chisholm's speed, power and position versatility should make him a strong contributor for the team down the stretch as the Yankees hope to win their first World Series since 2009.
