Worthy later caught a 22-yard touchdown pass from backup quarterback Carson Wentz, marking his first preseason TD in the NFL:
Naturally, Chiefs fans were thrilled to see Worthy—who set the NFL Scouting Combine's 40-yard dash record (4.21 seconds) in February—show off his speed early on:
The Chiefs won their second consecutive Super Bowl in 2023, but that run didn't come without some struggles. The team did not have a single player with more than 1,000 receiving yards and only had a single wide receiver top 500.
The position was clearly a need heading into the 2024dDraft and Worthy was a strong candidate. He had 75 catches for 1,014 yards and five touchdowns in 2023 for the Texas Longhorns before setting the 40-yard dash record at the combine.
With Marquise Brown potentially in line to miss some time at the start of the 2024 season with a shoulder injury, Worthy may be asked to shoulder a bigger load in the passing game for Mahomes and the Chiefs.
