MLB Rumors: Victor Robles, Mariners Agree to $9.75M Contract; Was DFA'd by Nationals

Victor Robles has landed an extension with the Seattle Mariners.

Per ESPN's Jorge Castillo, the Mariners and Robles have agreed to a two-year, $9.75 million contract extension. The extension also includes $2 million in bonuses and escalators.

Robles, an eighth-year veteran, joined the Mariners in June after he was designated for assignment by the Washington Nationals.

Robles has had a significant turnaround since joining Seattle. Before being picked up by the Mariners, Robles hadn't homered since 2022, and he's already belted three in just 42 games with the team. His batting average was a dreadful .120 before he was released and it has since skyrocketed to .303. He also has 12 stolen bases in 12 attempts and has been solid in the field.

Robles also has 1.4 wins above replacement during his time with Seattle.

The outfielder recently expressed his desire to stay with the Mariners, and now that wish has been granted.

"I just like it here. I want to stay here," Robles said last week, per the Seattle Times' Adam Jude. "I like the vibes the fans bring. I just really like Seattle. I would really like to stay here."

Seattle picked up Robles on a minimum contract in June and had reasonably low expectations for him, but he's since exceeded those expectations and was rewarded with an extension.

At just 27 years old, Robles still has plenty of time to keep improving, and the surge he's had this year is a positive sign that he'll do just that.
