WWE Rumors: LA Knight Signs Contract Extension After US Title Win vs. Logan Paul

Mike ChiariAug 9, 2024

LA Knight is reportedly sticking with WWE for the long haul after agreeing to a new contract with the company.

According to Fightful Select (h/t H Jenkins of Ringside News), Knight recently signed a new deal that is several years in length and includes a significant pay increase.

Knight and WWE were reportedly far apart on money in their previous negotiations, but they have now come to terms, meaning one of WWE's most popular stars will continue to be a key figure in the promotion for years to come.

The contract news comes on the heels of Knight securing arguably the biggest win of his entire pro wrestling career at SummerSlam last weekend.

Knight defeated Logan Paul to win the United States Championship in front of over 50,000 fans at SummerSlam in Cleveland, and he received one of the biggest reactions of the entire night.

Apart from a brief run with the Million Dollar Championship in NXT, the U.S. title marks Knight's first championship of any kind in WWE.

After a successful run in TNA that included winning the promotion's world title, Knight signed with WWE in 2021 and got over as a huge star on the brand.

However, Knight was repackaged into a manager named Max Dupri when he got called up to the main roster in 2022, and it was difficult to envision his run in that role lasting for too long.

Knight benefited from longtime WWE chairman, CEO and head of creative Vince McMahon leaving the company, though, as Triple H took over the booking and brought back the LA Knight character.

Since then, Knight has enjoyed a rapid ascent that included challenging Roman Reigns for the WWE Championship and beating AJ Styles at WrestleMania 40 before taking down Paul at SummerSlam.

Despite being 41 years old and a veteran of the business, it can be argued that Knight is just hitting his prime now, and he will have a chance to have an extended run in WWE as a top star now that his contract situation is resolved.
