WWE: Things We Need to See at the Royal Rumble
We already know there will be some kind of new twist in the Dolph Ziggler/CM Punk angle when John Laurinaitis is in the ring as special guest referee.
Brace yourselves, Ziggler could walk out of the ring with the WWE Title.
While that is not so much of a stretch, mainly because there is some connection between Ziggler, Vickie Guerrero and Jack Swagger, we need to see more twists and turns when we turn on the television and watch the Royal Rumble PPV unfold.
WWE creative may have had to change their direction a few times and come up with new spots that may work on the fly to fill in for injuries and failed angles, but some things still remain true to form.
Now is the time to really get the company moving toward WrestleMania 28. Now is the time for CM Punk, John Cena and the boys to clamp their feet down on the jugular and not let up.
A lot can be learned in the next three weeks before the PPV, but these eight things ought to happen so there is more build up toward the biggest PPV event of the year.
8. Some Heat for Air Boom
1 of 8They need a feud. They need more competition. They need to help establish the tag team division.
While Evan Bourne and Kofi Kingston are the Tag Team Champions, who is honestly challenging them?
Let's find a good duo and have them come to the surface and put some heat on the two high fliers.
7. A Surprise Rumble Winner?
2 of 8What would happen if Booker T won or maybe Mason Ryan?
You know there will be a surprise contestant who enters the ring. Undertaker?
What if we saw Batista or maybe Brock Lesnar join the fray that night.
In the words of Jim Ross, business would pick up.
6. Make the Divas a Little More Interesting
3 of 8I cannot emphasize this enough.
How much longer until we can see Kharma or Layla back in the ring?
5. Cody Rhodes Must Face Goldust
4 of 8It seems Rhodes likes picking on his elders.
First it was Booker T, now it is his brother Dustin "Goldust."
The match may not wait until Wrestlemania. I can see the storm brewing in Dustin, which ultimately would lead to Goldust making a major appearance in the PPV.
4. Chris Jericho Needs to Make an Impact
5 of 8The 15 minutes of fame he received last Monday was great, but it also left us scratching our heads.
I am hoping the former WWE Champion will be involved in some angle. Maybe helping Dolph Ziggler win the WWE Title, setting up a feud with CM Punk?
Jericho is the hot commodity with Kane. They both could make the WWE more refreshing and could add some more "pop" in angles.
Who is on the roster right now that could challenge Jericho?
Wade Barrett? No.
Sheamus? I like that one?
Daniel Bryan? Nope, not going to happen.
Jericho needs to stick his face in everything and see who slaps it.
3. John Laurinaitis Does Something That Sets Up Another "Angle"
6 of 8Not sure what that is yet, but maybe it involves The Miz and R-Truth.
Miz working on the "fear" factor that R-Truth may jump him again only adds to the need for this feud to continue because it could be very good.
I like the idea of Miz having to look over his shoulder. It is a believeable angle.
Laurinaitis could be the key in R-Truth getting another push if he gets over on Miz.
2. John Cena Must Face His Demons
7 of 8The Kane angle is just "sick" in a good way.
Kane knows how to create the drama Cena needs for the heel turn. He is the only one in the company that lends "believeability" to the angle.
If Cena makes the move, it needs to involve the Big Red Machine and has to happen right before or at the Royal Rumble.
1. Dolph Ziggler Needs to Win the WWE Title
8 of 8While I have preached about CM Punk being the one who is the best for the company, let me remind you of a few things.
In wrestling, the man chasing the title is usually in a better spot than the one holding the title. That said, it is harder for Punk to make people believe him when he says he is the best in the world.
Also, losing the title only makes him angry, which also means his vignettes are better.
Ziggler needs an opportunity to carry the belt.
