What Should LBJ Do Next? 👑

No LeBron, No D-Wade, All Kinds of Problems

Matt ShetlerJun 7, 2018

Both Dwyane Wade and LeBron James weren't in uniform last night for Miami's thrilling triple-overtime victory over the Atlanta Hawks.

Despite the win, that's not something the Heat want to get used to.

Chris Bosh and Mario Chalmers got a chance to carry the Heat while James and Wade got to play cheerleaders, but take the win and be happy with it and hope your stars get healed quickly.

Sometimes you have to get a lucky win and that's what the Heat got last night. There are only so many buzzer-beating three-pointers from Bosh available to help a team out.

While neither injury to either superstar is serious, what you get when James and Wade are in street clothes is a team without an identity.

The Miami offense was very inconsistent for most of the night until Chalmers got aggressive in the fourth quarter. There also wasn't much of a post game on the evening, which led to only 58 points in the paint in a game that went three overtimes.

The biggest thing that's missing without James and Wade though is the fast break. The Heat had only six fast-break points for the entire game.

Six?

They usually can get that per quarter.

All of the differences in the Heat without their superstars were to be expected, though. There's nothing wrong with that. They did get a win.

Having the ball in Wade or James' hands in crunch time is one important thing, but the offense running through them is something bigger all together.

So while the Heat are 1-0 with James and Wade sitting on the sidelines, it's nothing they want to do again.

There are only so many wins like Thursday's to be had.
