Jordan Brand previously unveiled a "Desert Camo" design for the Jordan 3 that appears to be inspired by the All-Star host city of Phoenix.

A WNBA-inspired design of the Kobe 8 Protros also dropped in May.

Kobe became a vocal supporter of women's basketball following his retirement from the NBA and prior to his death in 2020. His daughter Gianna had aspirations of playing in the WNBA as well.

The league began handing out an advocacy award in 2022 and named it in honor of Kobe and Gianna.

The All-Star-themed Kobes are another sign of the WNBA's growing popularity, both broadly and from a marketing perspective. That's also evidenced by the increasing number of stars getting their own signature lines.

The New York Liberty's Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionecsu have already had multiple iterations of their standalone merch drop with Puma and Nike, respectively. Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson and Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark have forthcoming collections with Nike that will arrive in the future as well.
