Magic Johnson Says Bronny James Will Be 'Must-See TV' After Lakers Draft LeBron's Son

Former Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson says the 2K25 NBA Summer League will be "must-see TV" after the Lakers drafted Bronny James.

LeBron James and his son could now become the first father-son duo in NBA history to play together.

The Lakers used the No. 55 pick to select James after one season at USC.

James could make his Lakers debut when Los Angeles faces the Sacramento Kings on July 6 for the California Classic in San Francisco.

He could also play for the Lakers during the Summer League, which will feature all 30 NBA teams when the tournament tips off on July 12 in Las Vegas.

Johnson previously expressed excitement for the Lakers' decision to draft Tennessee standout Dalton Knecht with the No. 17 pick during Wednesday's first round:

It seems likely that both Knecht and James could see playing time this summer as the Lakers evaluate how the two rookies will fit on the team.

James' agent, Rich Paul, previously told Chris Haynes for Bleacher Report that his client would not sign a two-way contract, so the Lakers will need to determine how best to utilize a relatively untested player on the roster next fall.

The Lakers are also waiting for LeBron James' final decision as to where he will be playing next season.

LeBron James has until Saturday to decide on a $51.4 million option to return to Los Angeles. It seems likely he will either take the option or accept a new deal in order to play with his son. The superstar is eligible for an extension worth up to three years and $164 million.

It looks like Johnson will be watching as newly-hired head coach JJ Redick works this summer on shaping what the Lakers will look like next fall.
