Cristopher Sánchez Signs 4-Year Phillies Contract Extension with Options Through 2030

The Philadelphia Phillies have locked in southpaw Cristopher Sánchez through his arbitration years.

Jon Heyman of the New York Post first reported that the team had agreed to a four-year contract extension with Sánchez. This will keep him in Philadelphia through 2028, and it also includes club options for 2029 and 2030.

The financial details of the extension were not disclosed. He is currently playing on a one-year, $753,500 contract.


Sánchez is 4-3 with a 2.91 ERA across 14 starts in 2024, allowing only a single home run while delivering a 59.4 percent ground-ball rate. He owns a career record of 10-10 and a 3.73 ERA in 55 games.

The 27-year-old has fit into the Phillies rotation nicely behind Zach Wheeler, Aaron Nola and Ranger Suarez. The entire pitching staff has earned a 3.15 ERA, which leads MLB.

Philadelphia is currently 49-26 and leads the National League.
