Arsenal Transfer Rumors: 5 Players the Gunners Must Grab

Nicholas GossJun 4, 2018

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has many needs to address in the January transfer window in order to make his club a contender for a trophy this season.

Adding another forward to lessen the scoring burden on world-class striker Robin Van Persie and finding a left back are the two primary areas the Gunners need to improve.

Let's look at five players Arsenal must target and consider signing in the transfer window.

Loic Remy

Loic Remy is a very talented striker who has played well for French club Marseille in both Ligue 1 play and the Champions League.

Remy has exceptional pace and is a very accurate shooter. The 25-year-old Frenchman has become a regular in Laurent Blanc's French national team and has the composure and maturity you would expect from a veteran.

With Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh leaving the club in January to take part in the Africa Cup of Nations, Wenger will need to bring in attacking reinforcements. Not only is Remy someone who can help Arsenal right now, he could be a star at the Emirates for many years.

Aly Cissokho

Aly Cissokho is a very good left back and has performed very well for French club Lyon over the past two seasons.

He has great pace and is also a player who never seems to tire during matches. The Frenchman would be a great injury replacement for Andre Santos and Kieran Gibbs. If Bacary Sagna has more injury issues, Cissokho would be capable of playing right back as well.

With Lyon having depth at the left back positions, selling Cissokho seems like a possibility in January. The price tag on him is also likely to be in the range that Wenger is willing to spend.

Yann M'Vila

Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila is one of the best young players in Ligue 1 and is a player who can provide defense and playmaking in the middle third of the pitch for Arsenal.

He has been a regular starter on the French national team and has admitted he's ready for a move away from France.

“I just don’t think it’s a good idea with Euro 2012 coming up.”

M'Vila will be an expensive player for Wenger to purchase, but with a departure from Rennes in the near future inevitable, the French club would be wise to cash in on their star forward when desperate clubs are looking for help in the transfer window.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is good striker who has been a strong goal-scorer in the Bundesliga, and reports suggest Arsenal may be looking to make a bid for the Dutchman to bring in some attacking talent for the second half of the season.

Huntelaar has previously played with Robin Van Persie with the Netherlands during international play, and he would be a comfortable and familiar strike partner for Van Persie.

Huntelaar can score goals consistently, which is something Arsenal desperately needs to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season.

Isaac Cuenca

Isaac Cuenca is a talented Barcelona winger, and with the Spanish champions already having good attacking depth, it's likely he won't get too much playing time this season.

Reports suggest Arsenal may be looking to make a bid for him to add some pace and attacking talent to the squad. Cuenca could turn into a real star, and Wenger has had success before in bringing Barcelona youngsters to the club and making them better players, such as Cesc Fabregas.
