Cavan Biggio Traded to Dodgers from Blue Jays After Being DFA'd

The Toronto Blue Jays traded utility man Cavan Biggio to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday after designating him for assignment.

Jeff Passan of ESPN reported right-handed reliever Braydon Fisher will head to Toronto in exchange for Biggio.

Once one of the top prospects in the Jays organization, Biggio had fallen out of favor in recent seasons. He was hitting .200/.323/.291 in 44 games with the Jays before being designated for assignment. While Toronto had minor league options remaining on Biggio's deal, he refused the assignment to the minors and was DFA'd instead.

The Dodgers will look for Biggio to play all over the field. He's played first base, second base, third base and right field this season. Chris Taylor, Gavin Lux and Kiké Hernández could all see less playing time if Biggio winds up improving his offense.

The Dodgers have a 7.5-game lead over the San Diego Padres for first place in the NL West.

Biggio is making $2.5 million this season and is arbitration-eligible for the 2025 season. He will be an unrestricted free agent in 2026.
