The New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers are undergoing a joint marketing effort for this season's interleague series.
Ahead of Game 1 of the series on Friday night in New York, hats that feature both Aaron Judge's No. 99 and Shohei Ohtani's No. 17 were up for sale in the stadium

The hat does appear to lean more Yankees-based as it has a navy blue base, but it technically could allow for a fan to support the two players as their respective ball clubs prepare to face off.
In an alternate universe, that hat could have been a representation of the Yankees two best players. New York was involved in the Ohtani free agent sweepstakes from last offseason. The two-way sensation would eventually sign a record-setting deal with the Dodgers, which led to the anticipated series this season.
It's also a matchup that could happen again in October. New York currently holds the best record in MLB at 45-19 while the Dodgers lead the NL West with a 39-25 record. Even prior to Ohtani's signing, both team's had been postseason fixtures, with the Yankees miss in 2023 being an exception.
Ohtani will have to wait a bit longer to pitch against Judge as a Dodger, as he will not be on the mound until at least 2025 after undergoing elbow surgery in 2023.
First pitch of the series is set for 7:05 P.M. ET.
