Conor McGregor, Michael Chandler's UFC 303 Press Conference Postponed

The build for Conor McGregor's return to the octagon at UFC 303 against Michael Chandler that was supposed to begin on Monday will be delayed.

UFC 302 took place on Saturday night at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. UFC president Dana White gave no indication during his post-event press conference there were any potential issues with the upcoming press event.

White said he would be flying to Dublin immediately after wrapping up the press conference to meet with McGregor.

The June 29 event at T-Mobile Arena is one of the most anticipated shows in mixed martial arts history. White has already announced the show is going to do the largest gate for a UFC event with more than $20 million in ticket sales.

UFC 205, which was the promotion's debut at Madison Square Garden headlined by McGregor vs. Eddie Alvarez, currently holds the gate record at $17.7 million.

The McGregor-Chandler bout was first announced as being in the works in February 2023 when both fighters were named coaches for season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter.

Even though no date for the fight was set at the time, Chandler said some time in September "would make the most sense to me."

As the season came and went with no date announced, it was unclear when it would happen. White confirmed in April the bout would headline the June 29 show as part of UFC's annual international fight week.

The matchup with Chandler will mark McGregor's first bout since July 10, 2021. Notorious lost to Dustin Poirier via TKO when the doctors stopped the fight after the first round when he suffered fractures to his tibia and fibula.

Chandler, who has been waiting for the McGregor bout, hasn't fought since losing to Poirier via submission at UFC 281 in November 2022.

UFC 303 is scheduled to take place on June 29.
