
Padres' Yu Darvish, Joe Musgrove Placed on 15-Day IL amid Groin, Elbow Injuries
The San Diego Padres announced Saturday that they placed starting pitchers Yu Darvish and Joe Musgrove on the 15-day injured list.
Darvish is dealing with a left groin strain, while Musgrove has right elbow inflammation.
To replace Darvish and Musgrove on the Major League roster, San Diego recalled pitchers Randy Vásquez and Logan Gillaspie from Triple-A El Paso.

The 37-year-old Darvish, who is a five-time All-Star, was off to a strong start this season, posting a 4-3 record with a 3.20 ERA and 53 strikeouts over 56.1 innings.
After surrendering a season-high seven earned runs in a May 24 loss to the New York Yankees, Darvish exited Wednesday's start against the Miami Marlins after just three innings due to a hamstring ailment.
Musgrove, 31, spent time on the IL last month with elbow inflammation. He returned to make two starts, allowing two earned runs in three innings against the Cincinnati Reds and one earned run in 5.1 innings against the Yankees on Sunday.
Overall, the one-time All-Star and 2017 World Series champion has struggled this season, going 3-4 with a 5.66 ERA and 44 strikeouts over 49.1 innings pitched.
Darvish and Musgrove are key parts of one of the best starting rotations in baseball along with Dylan Cease, Michael King and Matt Waldron.
The 25-year-old Vásquez is likely to slot into the starting rotation after getting called up, as he has already made five starts at the Major League level this season, going 0-3 with a 5.82 ERA.
At 31-29, the Padres are in second place in the National League West, 5.5 games behind the division-leading Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Padres also occupy the second wild-card spot in the NL, one game ahead of the San Francisco Giants in the third wild-card position and 1.5 games ahead of the St. Louis Cardinals, who are currently the first team outside the playoffs.
