Booking a WWE Women's Evolution 2 Match Card

Erik BeastonMay 29, 2024

WWE women's champion Bayley made headlines recently when she expressed her desire for a second all-female Evolution premium live event on the heels of a successful Queen of the Ring tournament.

The inaugural Evolution in 2018 was a critical success but not a financial one, and WWE did not follow up with a sequel.

With the women's roster as strong as it has ever been, though, it's time to revisit the potential for a second instalment of the pay-per-view.

What might that show look like? Keeping the current roster in mind, here is a fantasy booking of matches and stories that would make up an intriguing card.

Lyra Valkyria and A Mystery Partner vs. Damage CTRL

1 of 5

Since arriving on the main roster, Lyra Valkyria has been a thorn in the side of Damage CTRL.

The former NXT women's champion has gotten the best of Dakota Kai, Iyo Sky and Kairi Sane in singles matches, infuriating the once-dominant faction.

The group would beat down Valkyria in revenge, leaving her lying for two or three weeks in a row.

Determined to bring their feud to an end, The Valkyrie issues a challenge for a Street Fight against Sky and Kai but finds herself taunted by her opponents, who are giddy to find out who the newbie can possibly find to be her partner for such a match.

One week out from the premium live event, the Irish fighter finds herself on the receiving end of another beating, but Tatum Paxley hits the ring and fends off the attackers before helping a confused Valkyria to her feet.

The former NXT women's champion and Paxley have history from their time in the gold brand, when the latter started as an obsessed fan before turning into an enemy in a program that was never really settled.

The uncertainty of the relationship, and whether Valkyria can actually trust Paxley, would make for an intriguing thread to keep an eye on during what could well be a dark-horse candidate for a show-stealer.

That they have history with Damage CTRL dating back to February and a WWE Women's Tag Team Championship match against The Kabuki Warriors only helps enhance the story.

NXT Women's Championship: Giulia vs. Roxanne Perez

2 of 5

Roxanne Perez might be gearing up for a showdown with TNA Knockouts champion Jordynne Grace following a shocking NXT Tuesday night, but her greatest challenge will come in the form of international sensation Giulia.

The former New Japan Pro-Wrestling Strong women's champion made her first appearance at NXT Stand And Deliver, sitting in the front row.

Fittingly enough, it came right before Perez won the NXT Women's Championship for a second time.

It was a bit of foreshadowing and Corey Brennan of Fightful Select reports that is, indeed, the direction WWE hopes to head in with its big free-agent signing challenging The Prodigy in the near future, as long as a recent wrist injury and bookings with the Marigold promotion allow for it.

The match is a dream contest for fans who have watched both women rise through the ranks and establish themselves as forces in the industry.

How the styles would mesh, and how the fans would react to the newcomer, would bear watching, but there is plenty of reason to believe Giulia and Perez would have one of the better matches on any card based on what we have already seen from them individually.

WWE Women's Championship: Bayley vs. Nia Jax

3 of 5

Bayley and Nia Jax are already on a collision course for a match at SummerSlam, but the dynamic between them is one that can be explored beyond a single contest.

Perhaps Jax steamrolls her way to a victory at SummerSlam, forcing The Role Model to question herself and whether she still has what it takes to be champion in a landscape of evolving and new competition.

Bayley battles her way back into contention and finds herself confronted with the woman who beat her so definitively the last time they competed.

It's a twist on the Cody Rhodes story, where the babyface suffers a devastating defeat and has to work their way back into contention, with the added element of the hero's internal struggle of whether they are still good enough to compete at the highest level.

Is it the most dazzling story? No, but it is one that the audience can emotionally invest in, making it as valuable as any other on the card.

Tag Team Titles: Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair vs. Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair

4 of 5

Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill are undoubtedly the most dominant women's tag team champions in WWE history, with seemingly unmatched power and an evolving chemistry between the ropes.

Even The Kabuki Warriors, two-time champions, were no match for the physical dominance of the newly formed tandem.

So, who could realistically challenge them for the gold?

How about two of the biggest, most celebrated and decorated competitors in the history of women's wrestling?

Charlotte Flair has been out of action since suffering a knee injury last year while Becky Lynch's future is uncertain following her recent losses to Liv Morgan.

Assuming The Man re-signs and Flair comes back as good as ever, a super team that challenges The EST of WWE and The Storm would not only provide the champions with their toughest test to date but also add a drama in the form of a fractured friendship.

Lynch and Flair were previously best friends before professional jealousy and animosity got in the way. It is a story that has played out on and off-screen and one that fans are aware of.

A scenario in which Lynch and The Queen have to put aside their differences to focus on the task at hand would add even more to a clash of two super-teams.

Women's World Championship: Rhea Ripley vs. Liv Morgan

5 of 5

Rhea Ripley cost Liv Morgan months of her career. Turnabout was fair play for Morgan as she injured the Australian, forcing her to vacate the Women's World Championship prematurely.

Her Revenge Tour has not stopped there, with Morgan claiming the title in controversial fashion as Dominik Mysterio's interference against her backfired on two separate occasions.

Or did it?

Morgan appears to be weaseling her way into The Judgment Day, seemingly poised to supplant Ripley in the faction.

With her year-long reign gone, her championship in the hands of another woman, her boyfriend the subject of a shocking kiss at the end of Monday's Raw and her place as the group leader threatened, Ripley's return will be a vengeful one as she looks to take out all of her frustration on Morgan.

The story is so strong, and the history so bountiful, that it makes for the perfect championship clash and premium live event headliner.
