2012 NFL Draft Projections: Sizzling Super Sleeper Prospects
If your team drafts one of these players, don’t throw your remote at the TV. They may have just selected one of the steals of the drafts. Here are a handful of the top super sleeper prospects in the 2012 NFL draft who could hear their names called on the second day.
7. Logan Harrell (DE/DT, Fresno St.)
At 6’2”, 275 pounds, Harrell will most likely be able to play defensive tackle in a 4-3 or end in a 3-4 in the NFL. He recorded an impressive 70 tackles and six sacks this season.
6. Scott Wedige (C, Northern Illinois)
Wedige may be a small school prospect, but he didn’t slip through the cracks because of a lack of size. He stands at 6’4”, 314 pounds, which is an incredible frame for a center.
5. Bobby Wagner (OLB, Utah St.)
At 6’1”, 232 pounds, Wagner isn’t the biggest linebacker out there, but he’ll be a capable weakside prospect at the next level. Wagner at least has the talent, as he recorded 147 tackles, four sacks and two interceptions this season.
4. T.Y. Hilton (WR/KR, Florida International)
Straight out of Miami, I don’t know how the Canes missed this one.
Hilton is an electric playmaker. He recorded 73 receptions for 1,038 yards and six touchdowns this season. T.Y. also had a rushing and returning TD in 2011.
3. Carmen Messina (ILB, New Mexico)
Messina is a tackling machine. At 6’2”, 233 pounds, he’s a bit undersized, but he definitely didn’t show weakness dragging down 142 ball carriers this season for the Lobos.
2. Jordan White (WR, Western Michigan)
Looking at White’s stats, you would think he’s the second coming of Jerry Rice. White…Rice…coincidence?
He hauled in an insane 140 receptions for 1,911 yards and 17 touchdowns this season. And at 6’0”, 215 pounds, it isn’t like his size is going to hold him back.
1. Trumaine Johnson (FS/CB, Montana)
In a thin safety class, Johnson is one of the top prospects in the nation. He played cornerback in college, but at 6’3”, 210 pounds, he definitely has the size to play either position.
