Le'Veon Bell vs. Tristan Hamm: Live Stream and Predictions

Alex BallentineMay 25, 2024

Former All-Pro running back Le'Veon Bell will return to the boxing ring on Saturday night against influencer Tristan Hamm on the latest offering from the Misfits Boxing and DAZN's X Series from the NRG Arena in Houston, Texas.

The X Series has produced a few other notable crossover boxing events, including Bell's last fight against British YouTuber JMX. Bell won that fight via unanimous decision in a four-round fight.

Now, he'll take on Hamm in the first round of an eight-man cruiserweight tournament the promotion has put together this year.

Bell has fought three times heading into the fight. He kicked off his career with a fifth-round TKO win over fellow former NFL running back Adrian Peterson. Then he was beaten by former UFC fighter Uriah Hall in his second bout before rebounding with a unanimous decision win over JMX in March 2023.

Now he begins the journey toward potentially winning a championship in the Misfits Boxing promotion and it starts with a matchup against Hamm. Here's all the info you need to catch the bout along with a preview and prediction for the fight.

When: Saturday, May 25

Where: NRG Arena in Houston, Texas

Start Time: Main Card starts at 7 p.m. ET

Tickets: Vivid Seats

Live Stream: DAZN

As the popularity of crossover boxing continues to grow, Bell has an opportunity to carve out a lucrative second career. While he certainly isn't going to break into the world of proper professional boxing, he's shown enough to believe he could become formidable in a promotion like Misfits.

The company, which was founded by famous YouTuber and fellow crossover boxer KSI, has specialized in the category and found success. Bell's athleticism and work ethic from a successful career in professional football have positioned him to do well in this arena.

That much was made clear to JMX in his last bout. Bell couldn't get the finish but he was clearly a level above his opponent. The quickness and explosiveness were visibly on a different level.

Hamm, on the other hand, will only be making his second walk to the ring on Saturday night. The outdoor influencer's only foray into the sport was an X Series matchup against Rodney Peterson who was billed as "Not Logan Paul".

This one does have some promise to be entertaining. Hamm's technique is nowhere near refined, but he did hit his opponent with some powerful shots in his debut and he's looking to earn another knockout.

"I definitely think there's a knockout opportunity," Hamm told TMZ Sports (h/t Tyler Conway of Bleacher Report). "He's only had a number of fights, he's been around for a while, he's been training for a while but he only has a few fights."

Prediction

Expect a lot of wild, looping punches here, but Bell's head movement and awkward movement actually makes him a proficient defensive fighter by crossover boxing standards. Combined with his explosiveness and speed, he should be able to use his athleticism to win this one and move on in the tournament.
