Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson and head coach Becky Hammon came to the defense of Caitlin Clark on Friday.

"We love Caitlin Clark," Hammon said about the Indiana Fever rookie. "I think she's amazing. I watched every time I possibly could. And our league loves her."

"She's a 22-year-old woman with a lot of pressure," she added. "She's not perfect. She's a rookie in this league. Back off."

Wilson, a former No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 WNBA draft, echoed a similar sentiment.

"She's learning and growing just like everyone else," Wilson said. "I feel like people don't give her a chance. It's just growth. We tell our rookies every single day, this is new. You're coming into a whole new world and starting over."

After a tremendous collegiate career at Iowa resulted in consecutive NCAA tournament title game appearances, Clark hasn't experienced a similar level of success in the WNBA just yet. Her individual production has been impressive, averaging 17.8 points and 5.8 assists per game.

While Clark's efficiency has fluctuated to begin her career, she appears to be finding a scoring rhythm as of late. Over her past three games, she's shooting 45.5 percent from the field and 36.0 percent from three-point range.

However, the Fever haven't been able to secure a win and currently sit at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings with a record of 0-5. The lack of success has led to some criticism of Clark, with some fans questioning if the hype surrounding her out of college was too much.

Wilson and Hammon are familiar with performing under pressure, as the two are attempting to help the Aces earn a third consecutive championship. They don't appear to have any doubts about Clark's bright future in the WNBA.
