Dodgers Trade for RHP Yohan Ramírez; Mets Receive Cash in Deal
The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired right-handed reliever Yohan Ramírez in a trade with the New York Mets, the team announced on Monday.
The Mets received cash considerations in return.
Ramírez will suit up for his third team in 2024 after appearing in 10 combined games for New York as well as the Baltimore Orioles. The 29-year-old has struggled in that relatively small sample size, allowing 11 earned runs in 14.1 innings of work.

He had two separate stints with the Mets this year, starting the season with New York before he was traded to the Orioles on April 11. However, he returned to his original team after the Mets claimed him back off waivers on May 6.
Since he made his MLB debut in 2020, Ramírez has spent time with six different teams prior to his move to the Dodgers. He owns a career 4.29 ERA in 112 games, striking out 145 batters in 138.1 innings pitched.
While Ramírez will likely serve as bullpen depth for a Los Angeles team that currently owns the best record in the NL West at 32-17, he appeared to be getting on track prior to the move. In his past four combined appearances with Baltimore and New York, he gave up just two hits and didn't allow an earned run in 5.1 innings.
It's a low-risk move for a Dodgers team that already has one of the league's top bullpen units, as they rank No. 3 among all teams in ERA among relief pitchers in 2024 (via MLB.com). However, they've dealt with several injuries to players such as Evan Phillips, Joe Kelly and Ryan Brasier.
Los Angeles will continue to stay at the top of the division in the team's next game, a matchup with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday at 10:10 p.m. ET.
