Baby Gronk Flips Commitment to Michigan 4 Days After Ohio State Decision

Julia StumbaughMay 14, 2024

The Michigan football program class of 2031 has scored an unofficial commit from Baby Gronk.

The 11-year-old, whose real name is Madden San Miguel, announced Tuesday that he plans to play for Michigan when he is old enough to attend college.

Baby Gronk announced last week that he would eventually play at Ohio State.

The social media star has also previously "committed" to programs including LSU, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Missouri.

Baby Gronk released a graphic listing his "top 30" schools at the beginning of the month.

These choices included Michigan along with other blue bloods like Notre Dame, USC, Texas and Nebraska.

Madden's father Jake San Miguel told The Athletic's Ari Wasserman in June 2023 that Baby Gronk had received a "verbal offer" from Arizona, but that schools would not make formal offers until the recently graduated fifth grader reached the seventh grade.

San Miguel also sparked criticism by telling Wasserman that Baby Gronk was making "about $100,000 a year" through ads and promotions.

The account has also been criticized by namesake Rob Gronkowski, who told Barstool Sports last June the promotion had gone "too far."

Baby Gronk's Michigan commitment garnered over two million views on X within eight hours of posting, but it's fair to assume the social media star won't stay a future Wolverine for long.

Some of Baby Gronk's previous commitments, like his July 2023 promise to attend LSU after making collaboration videos with gymnast Olivia Dunne, lasted just hours before being retracted on his social media accounts.
