Knicks' OG Anunoby Out for Game 5 vs. Tyrese Haliburton, Pacers amid Hamstring Injury

Andrew PetersMay 13, 2024

New York Knicks small forward OG Anunoby will miss Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Indiana Pacers, per SNY's Ian Begley.

Anunoby suffered a hamstring injury in Game 2 against the Pacers and missed both Game 3 and Game 4.

In the first two games of the series, Anunoby put up 13 points and 28 points, respectively. He has been a valuable contributor throughout the postseason, averaging 16.4 points and 6.7 rebounds while playing 40 minutes per game.

The Pacers tied the series in dominant fashion on Sunday 121-89.

The Knicks have been hit hard with injuries so far this postseason. Along with Anunoby, New York is without Bojan Bogdanović, who underwent season-ending foot surgery after the first round, and Mitchell Robinson, who is sidelined for six to eight weeks with a stress injury to his left ankle.

The Knicks were already without power forward Julius Randle, who hasn't suited up since January.

Despite the injuries, New York has managed well in the playoffs and is two wins away from its first conference finals appearance since 2000.

The Knicks have gotten tremendous play from Jalen Brunson, who is averaging 32.9 points per game and has notched four 40-point games this postseason. They have also got some added help from their support cast with players like Josh Hart stepping up with added intensity in the playoffs. Hart is playing 44.1 minutes per game and has averaged 12.3 rebounds per game.

But Game 4 didn't go the Knicks' way, and they're looking to answer back in Game 5 at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday. Sunday's loss was uncharacteristic for New York, and it would be a surprise to see another blowout in Game 5.
