Under Armour All-America Game 2012: Predicting Where Eddie Goldman Lands

Randy ChambersJun 3, 2018

With the college football season coming to a close, it's about that time to look forward to the recruiting process. Which top players are going where and which teams can land the most impressive young talent?

Eddie Goldman is arguably the best defensive tackle in the country and is a 5-star recruit on every site. He has great size at 6'4", 315 pounds and extremely quick off the ball.

While he may be one of the top players in the country, he has yet to make a decision on where he will play football next year. He has several offers on the table but will likely make his decision on national signing day.

Let's take a look at the top schools he's considering and predict where he will end up.

Florida State

This was Goldman's first official visit and his father described it as "out of this world."

He's obviously very interested in the Seminoles because it was the first school he took a trip to. Here's a few other things Goldman's father had to say about Florida State on behalf of his son.

"

It is hard to find a word to describe the atmosphere. That FSU crowd is indescribable, just out of this world. I never have experienced anything like it nor had Eddie.

There were more fans than the capacity of the stadium. People didn't have seats and were just standing up against the fence. People were miles out tailgating, even the day before.

When Chief Osceola came out it was so deafening in there I couldn't talk to my wife. I had to wait for the crowd to settle down.

Miami

Another Florida school that's in the running are the Miami Hurricanes. He visited them about a month ago, and here a few things he said about them.

"

The last one I went on was to Miami. It was good. I bonded with the players well and I like the coaches there and it seems like one big family down there and I like that.

Miami's definitely in it. ... I like them and I'm still considering them. I'm still pretty open though.

"

Alabama

Alabama was another school that Goldman visited real early in the recruiting process. Once again the Crimson Tide are heavily in the running for a top prospect. Here are a few things his father said about the visit on behalf of his son.

"

He liked the visit a lot," said his father, Eddie Mohammad. "He spoke with the linebackers coach [Sal Sunseri] and coach Saban. Coach Saban compared him to Marcell Dareus. He told him he would have a lot of freedom to roam. He said Eddie and Marcell have the same height and weight.

Eddie was so impressed with the field and stadium at Alabama. His high school doesn't have a home field. All of their games are pretty much away games. He really enjoyed the whole experience at Alabama.

Prediction

4 of 4

Out of all of the schools to offer him something, you'd have to believe that Alabama is the favorite. They have the best team right now and would give him the opportunity to compete for national championships right away. The overall talent on the defense would also allow him to play more free and use his athleticism to his advantage to make more plays.

Alabama already has commitments from two defensive tackles, but none are as talented and have as much upside as Goldman has.

Miami has an extremely talented class, but I think with the ongoing NCAA investigation, that may hurt the Hurricanes chances of landing him.

Florida State is another favorite but will the commitment from Justin Shanks push him away to another school?

Overall I believe that the best place for Goldman is Alabama.
