WWE News: Future Plans for Chris Jericho Revealed, Feuding with CM Punk?

Drake OzJun 7, 2018

Chris Jericho returned to the WWE on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, shocking and confusing us all when he grabbed the microphone but didn’t say a word.

Jericho’s return was a relief for wrestling fans who have spent the past couple of months tirelessly debating who was behind the “It Begins” videos. Now that we know it was indeed Jericho, we can shift our focus to what’s next for Y2J.

So, just what do WWE officials have planned for Jericho in 2012? Let’s find out.

From the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via WrestleNewz.com):

"

Most expect Jericho to begin feuding with WWE Champion CM Punk, leading to a WrestleMania match. There is no word yet on exactly how long Jericho is back for but there was speculation going around that he will be involved in a major program after WrestleMania 28 with a match at SummerSlam.

"

Essentially, this just appears to be confirmation of what most of us expected: For Jericho to come back for a feud with CM Punk that would culminate at WrestleMania.

It’s an obvious set-up, given the nature of the “It Begins” videos and the similarities between their two gimmicks, but it’s also one that makes sense and that a big portion of wrestling fans would love to see.

Jericho and Punk really are two of the best (if not the best) wrestlers in the world, and as long as the WWE doesn’t screw this feud up royally, it should be a memorable one that features a fantastic WrestleMania match.

What will be interesting to see, however, is where Jericho goes from there.

Many fans, including me, have focused so much on the possibility of Jericho vs. Punk that we really haven’t given much consideration to what Y2J will be doing once that feud concludes.

In my dream scenario, I’d love to see The Rock stick around after WrestleMania as well, and for that “major program” to be The Rock vs. Y2J at SummerSlam. I think that would be epic to say the least.

But my most realistic scenario is that Jericho and Randy Orton end up on the same brand after the 2012 WWE Draft, with Jericho targeting Orton for being the one who “ended” his last WWE run.

It’s logical from a booking perspective, and a series of Orton-Y2J matches could potentially rival what we saw from Orton and Christian in 2011.
