Travis Kelce's NFL Career Earnings After Historic Chiefs Contract Extension
The Kansas City Chiefs ensured that star tight end Travis Kelce will end his legendary career in Red and White, as the team signed him to a contract extension on Monday.
Per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Kelce received a two-year contract extension worth $34.3 million that will keep him signed through the 2027 season. According to Over The Cap, his $13 million salary for the 2024 campaign and his $17.3 million salary in 2025 were set to bring his career earnings to $108.5 million, so Monday's extension will bump that figure to over $142.8 million by the time he hangs up his cleats.

There had been rumblings throughout the 2023 season that Kelce was nearing retirement. While he was still performing at a high level, the wear and tear on his body was evident as he missed two games due to knee and neck injuries and finished with under 1,000 receiving yards for the first time since 2015.
The 34-year-old admitted in an interview with J.R. Moehringer of the Wall Street Journal in November that he ponders retirement "more than anyone could ever imagine."
"The discomfort. The pain. The lingering injuries—the 10 surgeries I've had that I still feel every single surgery to this day," he said.
However, Kelce made it clear after he helped lead the Chiefs to their second straight Super Bowl title that he wasn't going anywhere. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that he responded "Hell yeah" when asked if he was returning in 2024 and added, "I want that three-peat."
Kelce is undoubtedly one of the greatest tight ends to ever play in the NFL, as he holds numerous records at the position. He currently has the fourth-most receiving yards (11,328) and receptions (907) and fifth-most touchdowns (74) by a tight end in league history.
Now, Kelce has the distinction of being the NFL's highest-paid tight end, and his bank account will be in great shape when he calls it a career.
