15 UFC Fighters Fans Love to Root Against
Whether you've participated in a sport or have attended an event, it's likely you or your fellow fan base has let out a cast of "boos" in anger or disgust for a specific performance.
In the Ultimate Fighting Championship, it may not even be the result of a specific performance but simply a dislike towards certain fighters.
For one reason or another, fans love to root against certain fighters.
In fact, these specific fighters could be some of the most talented in the organization but it doesn't matter.
You can't change a fan's mind and you certainly can't stop them from rooting against a specific fighter.
So, the following slides display 15 fighters that fans love to root against.
Anderson Silva
1 of 15No one will ever argue against what Anderson Silva has accomplished as a fighter over the course of his career.
However, Silva has given fans a reason to dislike him; specifically his dancing the night away in his bout against Demian Maia at UFC 112.
And, as we know, no one likes a winner.
Georges St-Pierre
2 of 15Similar to Anderson Silva, no one likes a winner.
To make matters even worse, it's rare that Georges St-Pierre ever finishes a fight, causing many fans to become disgusted with his fighting style.
And, for some reason it's translated into many fans rooting against the Canadian champion.
Melvin Guillard
3 of 15There's no explanation needed for why many fans choose to root against Melvin Guillard.
The perfect example was displayed in his performance against Joe Lauzon at UFC 136 where he blatantly taunted his opponent.
Fortunately for fans in attendance, they got to witness a 47-second submission victory for Lauzon.
Chael Sonnen
4 of 15Chael Sonnen.
You either love him or you hate him, and there's certainly no in between.
Sonnen's outspoken personality has rubbed many the wrong way, as he's called out more fighters than a man can count.
Oh, Uncle Chael.
Nick Diaz
5 of 15Nick Diaz may very well be the most hated fighter in MMA today, as there's absolutely no filter to what comes out of his mouth.
Diaz says what he thinks and means what he says.
Missed press conferences, late arrivals to media calls, and many other occurrences have taken their toll on Diaz's reputation
Michael Bisping
6 of 15Michael Bisping is disliked by many.
Please put an emphasis on "many" as he has come to be arguably the most head-turning fighter in the UFC today.
As a result, fans choose not to root for him.
No brainer here.
Josh Koscheck
7 of 15Josh Koscheck's toughness and fearlessness have allowed many fans to appreciate him as a fighter.
However, if you're Canadian, you may not agree with the statement above.
Or, if you're a Georges St-Pierre fan for that matter.
Tito Ortiz
8 of 15Tito Ortiz has come a long way in establishing himself as a respectable fighter in the world of MMA.
However, Ortiz's old ways and arrogant attitude remain alive and well in some fans' minds, ultimately resulting in their dislike for the Huntington Beach Bad Boy.
Poor Tito.
Rashad Evans
9 of 15Rashad Evans is the perfect example of a bromance gone wrong, as he is no longer connected with Jon "Bones" Jones, who was at one time considered to be one of his best friends.
However, Evans' comments directed towards Phil Davis and the Penn State scandal have also played an impact on his reputation with the fans.
Jon Fitch
10 of 15All Jon Fitch has done over the course of his career is win, win, and win some more.
However, it's not the wins that have caused many fans to become disgusted with Fitch, but his lackluster fighting style.
If you can't finish, you won't be a fan favorite.
Matt Serra
11 of 15Despite not having fought inside the UFC Octagon for over a full year, Matt Serra remains an active martial artist in the organization.
With his active resume comes a great dislike towards Serra's outspokenness and personality.
Many choose to root against Serra because of the arrogance he's shown towards fellow welterweight legends such as Georges St-Pierre and Matt Hughes in the past.
Jon Jones
12 of 15Is Jon "Bones" Jones cocky?
Well, according to many UFC fans the answer to that question is a resounding "yes."
Apparently Jones' success at such a young age hasn't sat very well with many fans.
Light heavyweight champion or not, Jones' name isn't on the wedding invitation.
Nate Diaz
13 of 15While Nick Diaz is the front-runner for the most hated fighter in MMA today, his brother Nate is giving him a run for his money.
The youngest Diaz has quickly taken on the role of the outspoken Diaz, specifically in his most recent bout against Donald Cerrone.
Never knock a cowboy's hat off, Nate.
Matt Hughes
14 of 15Much like Matt Serra, many fans have grown to dislike Matt Hughes as he is often referred to as a boring fighter.
Many fans also choose to root against Hughes because of his unwillingness to retire from the sport as he's clearly not the fighter he once was.
Time for Hughes to hang it up.
Frank Mir
15 of 15Frank Mir is one of the biggest trash talkers in MMA, despite meaning well for the majority of the things he says.
However, it's hard to erase his comments towards Brock Lesnar. Leading up to their highly anticipated bout at UFC 100, he stated that he'd like Lesnar to be the first fighter to die from Octagon-related injuries.
Harsh.
