Masters Par 3 Tournament 2024: Date, Tee Times, Live Stream Info and Preview
It's almost time for the 2024 Masters Tournament. And that means it's also almost time for the Masters Par 3 Contest, an exhibition event held every year on the day before the opening round of the Masters.
Before the Masters Tournament gets underway Thursday, the Par 3 Contest will take place at Augusta National Golf Club on Wednesday. The event is a nine-hole, par-27 single round that features only holes ranging from 70-140 yards.
No golfer has won the Par 3 Contest and the Masters Tournament in the same year. But the former is also more about fun than finishing in first, as family members often get to serve as the caddies for the exhibition event.

Even if the Masters Par 3 Contest doesn't have the highest stakes, there have been some exciting moments to take place during the event in recent years.
In 2016, Jimmy Walker set the Par 3 Contest record by finishing with a score of 19. His impressive performance featured a hole-in-one, as he beat the previous mark by one stroke.
In 2022, Mackenzie Hughes and Mike Weir shared the title, as each finished with a score of 23. Due to inclement weather, the two did not face off in a playoff hole. But there have been playoffs in the Par 3 Contest in the past, as that's how Matt Wallace won the event in 2019.
Tom Hoge was the winner of the Par 3 Contest last year, finishing with a score of 21. However, Hoge went on to miss the cut during the Masters Tournament.
The closest any golfer has gotten to winning both the Par 3 Contest and the Masters in the same year occurred in both 1990 and 1993. Raymond Floyd (1990) and Chip Beck (1993) each won the Par 3 Contest and then went on to finish second in the Masters. Floyd lost in a playoff.
There are 12 golfers who won both a Par 3 Contest and a Masters title during their careers. The most recent to join the club was Weir, the 2022 Par 3 Contest co-champion who previously won a Masters championship in 2003.
But if a golfer finally won both in the same year, it would end the "curse" that has affected Par 3 Contest winners since the event began in 1960.
Regardless of who wins on Wednesday, it will be entertaining to watch the golfers interact with their family members and have some fun before opening the Masters on Thursday. There should be some good golf played, too.
