Way-Too-Early Predictions for 2024 MLB All-Star Game Rosters
The 2024 MLB All-Star Game is still more than three months away, and teams have played just a few games to kick off the new season, but it's never too early to start looking ahead to the Midsummer Classic.
One of the liveliest debates each season centers around the biggest snubs when All-Star Game rosters are selected, so why not start that debate now?
Each month during the 2024 season leading up to the All-Star roster announcements, we'll be giving our best guess at which 64 players will get the call to play in the annual showcase of baseball's top talent.
Future versions will be based on 2024 production, but this first round of predictions is based solely on expectations and future projection.
Using the 32-player roster format, and sticking to the rule of selecting one player from each of the 30 teams, we have assembled our way-too-early 2024 American League and National League All-Star teams.
For consistency, each roster was made up of 20 position players and 12 pitchers.
Let the debate begin!
AL Starting Lineup

AL Starting Lineup
1. CF Julio Rodríguez, SEA
2. LF Juan Soto, NYY
3. RF Aaron Judge, NYY
4. DH Yordan Alvarez, HOU
5. SS Corey Seager, TEX
6. 3B Alex Bregman, HOU
7. 1B Triston Casas, BOS
8. 2B Marcus Semien, TEX
9. C Adley Rutschman, BAL
SP Corbin Burnes, BAL
Notes
-After hitting .317/.417/.617 with 15 home runs and 38 RBI after the All-Star break last season, Triston Casas looks like a prime candidate for a big breakout season. With Freddie Freeman, Matt Olson, Pete Alonso, Bryce Harper and Paul Goldschmidt all playing in the NL, sneaking into the starting lineup at first base in the AL is not out of the question.
-With the Texas Rangers set to play host to the 2024 All-Star Game at Globe Life Field, expect the middle infield tandem of Marcus Semien and Corey Seager to rank among the leading vote-getters on the AL ballot.

2B José Altuve, HOU
3B José Ramírez, CLE
SS Gunnar Henderson, BAL
SS Bobby Witt Jr., KC
OF Randy Arozarena, TB
OF Adolis García, TEX
OF Luis Robert Jr., CWS
OF Mike Trout, LAA
DH Wyatt Langford, TEX
Notes
-Cal Raleigh, Gunnar Henderson, Bobby Witt Jr. and Wyatt Langford are the first-time All-Star from this group, and while the starting shortstop nod still goes to Corey Seager for now, expect Henderson and Witt to be battling it out for that spot in the coming years.
-Luis Robert Jr. and Mike Trout were the only selections for their respective teams, which ultimately squeezed out Kyle Tucker, Riley Greene and several other potential candidates among AL outfielders.

SP Kevin Gausman, TOR
SP George Kirby, SEA
SP Pablo López, MIN
SP Cole Ragans, KC
SP Grayson Rodriguez, BAL
SP Tarik Skubal, DET
RP Pete Fairbanks, TB
RP Josh Hader, HOU
RP Clay Holmes, NYY
RP Mason Miller, OAK
Notes
-Starter Shane Bieber and closer Clay Holmes are both off to great starts in contract years, so they will have some added motivation with big potential pay days on the horizon this coming offseason.
-Pablo López, Tarik Skubal and Mason Miller were the only picks from their teams, but all three have the potential to be All-Star-worthy outside of filling roster requirements. Don't sleep on López and Skubal as legitimate AL Cy Young candidates.
3 Toughest AL Omissions
4 of 10
SP Luis Castillo, Seattle Mariners
It will be interesting to see how the decision to choose George Kirby over Luis Castillo for a spot on the AL roster ages in the coming months. Both pitchers are among the best in the AL and both could ultimately find their way onto the roster like they did a year ago.
3B Rafael Devers, Boston Red Sox
If Triston Casas does not end up putting together the breakout season I'm predicting by penciling him into the AL starting lineup, Devers will be the obvious pick to represent the Red Sox as the established star and face of the franchise.
OF Kyle Tucker, Houston Astros
As mentioned, with Luis Robert Jr. and Mike Trout both on the AL roster as their team's lone representatives and several other Astros already on the team, Tucker ended up being the odd man out for a spot on the AL bench.

9. CF Michael Harris II, ATL
SP Logan Webb, SF
Notes
-Four players from the Atlanta Braves, four players from the Los Angeles Dodgers and 2023 NL Rookie of the Year winner and rising superstar Corbin Carroll. It's likely going to be difficult for players from any teams outside of those two juggernauts to break through in the NL starting lineup.
-Right-hander Logan Webb might be the best pitcher in baseball right now who has never made an All-Star team, so what better way to right that wrong than by slotting him in for the starting nod on the NL staff? Michael Harris II would also be a first-time All-Star in the starting lineup.

OF Jordan Walker, STL
DH Manny Machado, SD
Notes
-There are a lot of potential first-time All-Stars on this list, including Keibert Ruiz, Nico Hoerner, Ke'Bryan Hayes, Ha-Seong Kim and Jordan Walker. I've spent all offseason hyping up Walker as a breakout star, so it's only right that he gets a spot in this first round of All-Star predictions.
-There is currently no timetable for Manny Machado to return to third base after he underwent offseason surgery on his right elbow, so for now he gets slotted in the designated hitter spot on the NL bench.

SP Frankie Montas, CIN
SP Freddy Peralta, MIL
SP Brandon Pfaadt, ARI
SP Spencer Strider, ATL
SP Zack Wheeler, PHI
RP Edwin Díaz, NYM
RP Camilo Doval, SF
RP Justin Lawrence, COL
Notes
-Once Jesús Luzardo, Frankie Montas, Freddy Peralta and Justin Lawrence were added to the roster as the lone representative from their respective teams, there were only eight remaining spots on the NL staff to spread around to the league's top pitchers.
-NL West up-and-comers Bobby Miller and Brandon Pfaadt both have huge breakout potential after showing flashes during their rookie seasons in 2023. Miller had the better debut a year ago, but Pfaadt boosted his stock considerably with a strong finish to the year and an eye-opening performance in the playoffs.
3 Toughest NL Omissions
9 of 10
SP Tyler Glasnow, Los Angeles Dodgers
Glasnow has never been an All-Star, and he has looked the part of a staff ace to open the year for the Dodgers, but with so many position players likely to be selected from his roster, it ended up being a toss-up between Glasnow and Bobby Miller for one spot on the NL staff.
C Gabriel Moreno, Arizona Diamondbacks
After posting a 105 OPS+ and winning Gold Glove honors in his first full season in the big leagues last year, Moreno looks like a star on the rise for the D-backs. He had four home runs and 12 RBI in 17 games during the playoffs, and a step forward in his offensive production would vault him into the top tier of players at his position.
SS Trea Turner, Philadelphia Phillies
With Mookie Betts shifting to shortstop, Francisco Lindor coming off a fantastic season and Ha-Seong Kim worthy of some All-Star recognition, there is suddenly a logjam at shortstop in the National League. Dansby Swanson, Willy Adames, Oneil Cruz and Elly De La Cruz are also in the mix at the position.
