NFL Scout: QB Joe Milton III's Size and Arm Wows but 'Waiting on All of It to Click'
Scouts believe Tennessee quarterback Joe Milton III has the qualities of a NFL quarterback, but still needs everything to "click" in order to succeed at the next level, according to ESPN's Jordan Reid.
"He'll wow you up close with his size and arm, but we're still waiting on all of it to click with him, and it just hasn't happened consistently enough yet," one AFC scout told Reid.
Milton made 12 appearances for the Volunteers during his first full college season as a starter in 2023, throwing 2,813 yards for 20 touchdowns and five interceptions.

The 6-foot-5 quarterback ranked second in the SEC with five passes over 50 yards and can consistently throw the ball over 60, as he proved at the NFL Combine and Tennessee's Pro Day.
However, Milton's "touch on vertical throws remains a concern despite the arm strength," Reid reported.
"He has to learn to layer the ball to his desired spots," Reid wrote.
Although Milton completed 229 of 354 pass attempts to mark a 64.7 percent completion rate for the Volunteers last season, his accuracy rates numbers dropped on long passes.
Milton completed just 28.6 percent of the passes he sent over 20 air yards, Reid reported, ranking him No. 104 in the FBS.
Although the B/R NFL Scouting Department does not have Milton ranked among the top 200 prospects on their latest 2024 NFL Draft Big Board, a team could still decide to bet on his raw strength and draft him with the hopes of honing his deep accuracy once he's in the NFL.
