Yankees 3B DJ LeMahieu's Foot Injury Diagnosed as Fracture; Out at Least 2 Weeks

After New York Yankees third baseman DJ LeMahieu suffered a bone bruise in his right foot forcing him to start the season on the injured list, the full extent of the injury has now been revealed.

Per MLB.com's Bryan Hoch, manager Aaron Boone said Saturday that LeMahieu has been diagnosed with a non-displaced bone fracture and will be re-imaged in two weeks. According to ESPN's Jorge Castillo, Boone didn't share a timetable but said LeMahieu could be back on the field in April.

Last season, the 35-year-old posted 121 hits, 15 home runs and 44 RBI with a .243 average.

LeMahieu, who has been with the Yankees since 2019, has been consistent in recent years and had the second-most home runs of his career last season, but had the worst batting average and strikeout totals (125) of his career.

The Yankees are off to a good start this season, winning their first two games against the Houston Astros and are looking for another on Saturday. Oswaldo Cabrera, who has been filling in at third base to start the season, has impressed with six hits, a home run and four RBI in nine at-bats thus far.

The Yankees are coming off a disappointing 82-80 campaign, having missed the postseason for the first time since 2016.
