NFL Rumors: Michael Gallup, Mike Williams to Visit with Panthers in 2024 Free Agency

Paul KasabianMar 16, 2024

The Carolina Panthers are bringing free agent wide receivers Michael Gallup and Mike Willaims in for visits next week.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Gallup's meeting with Carolina, while Joe Person of The Athletic noted Williams will also talk with the team.

Gallup, 28, a 6'1", 198-pound receiver. He spent the first six seasons of his career with the Dallas Cowboys, who released the former Colorado State star last Friday. He finished 2023 with 34 catches, 418 yards and two touchdowns.

Williams, 29, stands at 6'4" and 218 pounds. He played his first seven years with the Chargers, who cut the ex-Clemson star on Wednesday to help get under the salary cap.

Either one could help a Carolina team turning the page to a new era after hiring ex-Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Dave Canales to be their head coach.

The Panthers also have a new general manager in Dan Morgan, and he's been busy making moves. On the offensive side, the team has rebuilt the line by adding guards Robert Hunt and Damien Lewis in free agency. The Panthers also added wide receiver Diontae Johnson from the Pittsburgh Steelers via trade.

Carolina can certainly use more reinforcements on offense to help out second-year quarterback Bryce Young, especially after a season when the team scored the second-fewest points in the NFL.

Gallup or Williams could be an option and help round out a receiver core that also includes veteran Adam Thielen and second-year pro Jonathan Mingo.
