WWE Reportedly Wants Rock vs. Reigns in Saudi Arabia

The Rock vs. Roman Reigns is not happening at WrestleMania 40 despite WWE teasing the match last month, but it reportedly could be in the cards in the near future.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Nikunj Walia of Ringside News), higher-ups in WWE "would like" for the Reigns vs. Rock dream match to occur at the next premium live event in Saudi Arabia, which is scheduled for May 25.

Prior to WWE seemingly pivoting to The Rock vs. Reigns at WrestleMania, there were reportedly some in WWE who pushed to delay that match until the Saudi show, while sticking with the Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes rematch in the main event of WrestleMania.

Regardless of what WWE's initial plan was, it settled on Reigns vs. Rhodes for WrestleMania, although it looks as though The Rock is going to wrestle on the show as well.

The Rock challenged Rhodes and Seth Rollins to face him and Reigns in a tag team match at WrestleMania, which would presumably be the main event of Night 1. Rhodes and Rollins are set to answer the challenge on Friday's episode of SmackDown.

Meltzer noted that there are "a lot of variables" regarding whether The Rock will wrestle on the Saudi show in May, but added that the "belief" within WWE is that WrestleMania won't be his only match in 2024.

The Rock turned heel after Rhodes chose Reigns as his WrestleMania opponent, and he is currently part of The Bloodline. The Great One even pledged his allegiance to Reigns by acknowledging him as his Tribal Chief.

However, there is a widespread belief among fans that it is all a setup that will result in The Rock turning on Reigns at WrestleMania and costing him the undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

If that happens, it will set the stage for a match between Reigns and The Rock, and the only question is when it would happen.

WWE could wait until next year's WrestleMania 41 since it is a match fit for the biggest show in the industry, but doing it in Saudi Arabia would perhaps land WWE a huge payday and generate a ton of interest in what is typically viewed as a mid-level premium live event.

Sasha Banks Says She Will Return to WWE One Day

Ahead of her anticipated AEW debut next week, Mercedes Moné (formerly known as Sasha Banks) suggested that she will eventually return to WWE.

During an appearance on the Kick Rocks Wrestling Podcast with Evan Mack (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News), Mercedes gave an eyebrow-raising answer when asked about WWE:

"I know I'm gonna be back there one day," Moné said of WWE. "Like I said, I have a lot of unfinished business in a lot of places."

As Sasha Banks, Moné enjoyed enormous success during her time with WWE from 2012 to 2022.

She is one of the most accomplished women's wrestlers in WWE history, having won the Raw Women's Championship five times, the SmackDown Women's Championship once, the NXT Women's Championship once and the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships three times.

Banks was also part of the first one-on-one women's match to ever main event WrestleMania, as she and Bianca Belair headlined Night 1 of WrestleMania 37.

Sasha and WWE had a messy breakup, though, as she and Naomi walked out prior to an episode of Raw in May 2022 due to creative differences.

Both Banks and Naomi resurfaced elsewhere last year with Sasha wrestling as Mercedes Moné in New Japan Pro-Wrestling and Naomi becoming Trinity in Impact Wrestling.

Naomi made her WWE return at the 2024 Royal Rumble in January, but it appears as though Mercedes will continue her pro wrestling career in AEW.

Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp reported last month that Mercedes has heading to AEW and had been "on their payroll for a while."

Next week's episode of Dynamite is taking place in Mercedes' hometown of Boston and is being branded as "Big Business," so all signs point toward her debut happening on that show.

Mercedes has a chance to use her star power to bring the AEW women's division to new heights, but it sounds like she still has designs on tying up some loose ends in WWE down the line.

Dominik Mysterio Marries Longtime Girlfriend on Thursday

Dominik Mysterio and his childhood sweetheart, Marie Juliette, officially became husband and wife on Thursday.

Ringside News posted video of Mysterio and Juliette being introduced as newlyweds during their wedding reception:

Also, wedding guests hilariously booed Dominik when he got on the mic during the reception, which was a nod to the reaction he normally gets when he tries to cut a promo in WWE:

Mysterio's Judgment Day stablemates, Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest, were in attendance, and Ripley posted photos of the trio on X:

Dominik, 26, is the son of legendary luchador and WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio, and he has been wrestling on WWE's main roster since 2020.

Rey and Dominik went on to become the first father-son tag team champions in WWE history, but Dominik eventually turned on his dad became part of The Judgment Day.

As a member of The Judgment Day, Mysterio has become one of the biggest heels in WWE, consistently generating a ton of heat from the WWE Universe.

Dominik has a bright future in WWE and is poised to follow in the footsteps of his father, although he'll do so in a very different way since Rey is one of the most beloved figures in pro wrestling history.
