Shohei Ohtani, Ronald Acuña Jr., Mike Trout, Aaron Judge and Mookie Betts are all tied with the coveted 99 rating, the highest rating in the game.
They were also five of the 11 players to check in with a rating of 95 or higher:
- DH/P Shohei Ohtani, LAD, 99
- OF Ronald Acuña Jr., ATL, 99
- OF Mike Trout, LAA, 99
- OF Aaron Judge, NYY, 99
- 2B Mookie Betts, LAD, 99
- SS Corey Seager, TEX, 98
- SP Spencer Strider, ATL, 97
- 3B Austin Riley, ATL, 96
- OF Yordan Álvarez, HOU, 96
- 1B Matt Olson, ATL, 95
- SP Gerrit Cole, NYY, 95
One of the first things that jumps out from the list is how much top-notch talent the Atlanta Braves have on their roster.
While Acuña generates the most headlines as the reigning National League MVP, the presence of Spencer Strider, Austin Riley and Matt Olson gives the NL East team plenty of difference-makers across the roster.
It remains to be seen, though, whether that will be enough to top the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League.
After all, Los Angeles made the biggest splash of the offseason by signing Ohtani and pairing him with Betts as arguably the two best players in baseball. Ohtani will not be able to pitch this season as he recovers from elbow surgery, but he led the league with 44 home runs last season and adds even more firepower to an already loaded Dodgers lineup.
Fortunately, fans don't have to wait until October for a clash between the Dodgers and Braves.
They can play the series out when they take to the virtual diamond on March 19 when MLB The Show 24 is officially released on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
