Raiders Rumors: LV 'Will Do Plenty of Work on' Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Maye
The Las Vegas Raiders will perform their due diligence on the top quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL draft class, according to The Athletic's Tashan Reed.
"Caleb Williams, Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels are widely considered the top three quarterbacks in this class," Reed wrote Monday. "The Raiders will do plenty of work on them, but it'll be difficult for them to draft any of them considering they hold pick No. 13 in the first round. With that in mind, they'll also need to deeply study J.J. McCarthy, Bo Nix, Michael Penix Jr. and the rest of the class."
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Sunday on SportsCenter the Raiders "could be a mover and a shaker around draft time" with an eye toward Daniels. Head coach Antonio Pierce helped to recruit Daniels to Arizona State when he was on the Sun Devils' staff, so he's familiar with the Heisman Trophy winner.
Reed outlined the problem for Las Vegas.
Williams, Maye and Daniels were the first three players off the board in Bleacher Report's most recent 2024 mock draft. There's a slim chance any will still be available when the Raiders are on the clock, and even McCarthy went one pick earlier to the Denver Broncos at No. 12.
Trading up into the first three or four picks would come at a steep cost, so Pierce and first-year general manager Tom Telesco will have to cast a wide net as they closely scrutinize who's available in the 2024 draft.
