
Alabama Broadcaster Eli Gold Not Returning for 2024 CFB; Says School Made Decision
Nick Saban isn't the only Alabama mainstay who won't be returning next season.
Eli Gold, the Crimson Tide's play-by-play announcer for 35 years, will not be back for the 2024 season.
"I will not be returning. The university chose to not bring me back. I have not retired!" Gold told Jonathan Hardison of FOX6 WBRC.

Chris Stewart, who serves as Alabama's lead basketball announcer, will replace Gold, Crimson Tide Sports announced.
"Eli has been an invaluable member of our broadcast team," Crimson Tide Sports Network general manager Jim Carabin said in a press release. "We are grateful for his years of service and wish him all the best in this next chapter. CTSN is fortunate to have someone as part of our existing broadcast team in Chris to step up and seamlessly transition into this role."
Gold was the lead announcer for Nick Saban's six national championships and was inducted. into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 2014.
