76ers Rumors: Bulls' Andre Drummond Eyed at Trade Deadline amid Joel Embiid Injury
The Philadelphia 76ers are weighing a reunion with veteran center Andre Drummond, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.
On Drummond more broadly, Stein reported he's "widely regarded as the Most Likely Bull To Be Traded this week."
The Sixers are looking to shore up their frontcourt prior to the NBA trade deadline with Joel Embiid requiring surgery for a left meniscus injury.
Philadelphia hasn't shut Embiid down for the season, so the chance remains that he'll return to the court at some point in 2023-24. Having successfully undergone surgery, he won't be evaluated again until after four weeks, though.
The reigning NBA MVP will be out for a month at a minimum, and even if he's fully cleared after four weeks, he'll probably need another week to ramp up his workouts.
If you're the Sixers, you might be hoping for the best but planning for the worst.
The timing of Embiid's meniscus injury means the front office can add another center without picking over the bones of the buyout market.
Drummond is averaging 7.9 points, 8.5 rebounds and 0.6 blocks in 16.2 minutes per night over 51 appearances.
The 30-year-old doesn't help the Sixers' championship aspirations much, and right now they're leaning on a center rotation of Paul Reed and Mo Bamba. Philly would undoubtedly benefit from adding another big man between now and the 3 p.m. ET deadline Thursday.
