After attacking CM Punk on Monday night's episode of Raw, Drew McIntyre took to social media Tuesday morning to troll the injured Superstar.

Punk announced on Raw that he would be unable to compete at WrestleMania 40 due to a torn triceps, and McIntyre posted a meme on X, formerly known as Twitter, mocking Punk's injury status:

During Raw, McIntyre told Punk that he "prayed" for him to get injured and miss WrestleMania and he ended the segment by beating down Punk and stomping on his injured arm.

Punk returned to WWE in November after a nearly 10-year hiatus, and it seemed fairly clear from the start that WWE was building toward a World Heavyweight Championship match between Punk and Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40.

Cody Rhodes and Punk were the final two participants in the Rumble match, and while many viewed Punk as the favorite entering the premium live event, Rhodes tossed him out to win his second consecutive Royal Rumble match.

The assumption was that Punk would still get his match with Rollins and potentially his first career WrestleMania main event by winning a No. 1 contender match at Elimination Chamber, but he won't have the opportunity.

Given that McIntyre attacked Punk and fell just short in a couple of title opportunities against Rollins, he stands out as a top contender to be Rollins' opponent on the Grandest Stage of Them All.

Interestingly, Punk said before McIntyre attacked him Monday that when he returns from injury, he will not only be aiming for a WrestleMania main event, but he'll be looking to get revenge on McIntyre as well.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News) reported Tuesday that McIntyre still hasn't signed a new contract with WWE, and his current deal is set to expire shortly after April.

If there wasn't an agreement in place or strong confidence in a deal getting done, it is somewhat curious why WWE would have Punk tease a future feud with McIntyre and have McIntyre attack Punk.

Provided WWE and McIntyre do come to terms, it won't be a shock if he beats Rollins for the world title at WrestleMania, and Punk challenges him when he returns in the summer or fall.

McIntyre is a two-time WWE champion who deserves to return to the top, and in the wake of attacking Punk and subsequently trolling him, it is clear that he is doing some of his best work as a heel.
