Seth Rollins Will Be Ready for WWE WrestleMania 40 After Confirming Injury Rumors

World heavyweight champion Seth Rollins announced Monday night on WWE Raw that he will be ready for WrestleMania 40 in April and will continue his title reign despite suffering an injury during his win over Jinder Mahal on last week's Raw.

"I will do every single thing in my power to walk out of WrestleMania as the world heavyweight champion," he said despite his knee injury:

It will take some rehabbing, though, as he revealed he suffered a Grade 2 tear of his MCL and a partially torn meniscus. He also said doctors said he would need surgery and miss three to four months.

Rollins defended his title against Mahal, but he appeared to be favoring his leg late in the match, leading to rumors and speculation regarding his status.

Wade Keller of PWTorch reported one day after the match that Rollins suffered a legitimate injury and had to be helped to the backstage area. Sources told Keller that Rollins was eventually able to put weight on his leg, but he walked with a noticeable limp.

It was later reported by Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp that Rollins suffered a torn MCL and a partially torn meniscus.

Rollins avoided the most serious potential knee injury, which is a torn ACL. He tore his ACL in 2015, and it resulted in his vacating the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and missing six months of action.

Recovery time from a torn MCL and meniscus tends to vary based on the severity. It could take only one to two months in an ideal scenario, or it could stretch even further beyond that if the tears are more significant.

Rollins became the inaugural world heavyweight champion when he beat AJ Styles in a tournament final at Night of Champions in May, and he entered Raw with a title reign of well over 200 days.

Ever since the return of CM Punk to WWE at Survivor Series in November, it has been widely expected that Rollins and Punk would clash at WrestleMania.

During Punk's WWE absence, Rollins didn't hold back in criticizing him, and WWE has used their real-life issues to build up a storyline between them.

Punk announced his entry into the men's Royal Rumble match several weeks ago after Rollins cut a fiery promo on him, and Punk immediately became the favorite to win the Rumble at that point.

Since the decision has been made for Rollins to win the title, it likely means that all systems are go for Punk to win the Rumble and challenge Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship, presumably in the main event of Night 1 of WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia.
