Kobe Bryant Video: Watch Lakers Star Make Sick Bucket with Backboard Pass
While everybody else seems to be concerned with Kobe Bryant's wrist, the Los Angeles Lakers star doesn't seem too worried about it as he continues to go about his business in a workmanlike fashion. Last night against the Houston Rockets, he even showed off some vintage Black Mamba flair.
A video of his creative do-it-yourself bucket is embedded above.
Bryant gets caught in the air after some solid on-ball defense by Rockets guard Kevin Martin. Instead of attempting to make a difficult shot or dishing an ill-advised pass, he comes up with a more creative way to get out of the situation.
He uses his left hand, which isn't injured, to throw the ball off the backboard and his momentum toward the hoop allows him to grab the “rebound.” Bryant then quickly puts it back up and in for an easy two points.
Being able to think outside the box like that is what makes Bryant a world-class scorer. He's done it for more than a decade and he doesn't seem to be ready to slow down any time soon.
His wrist injury will be an intriguing story for the entire season because nobody is sure if he'll be able to survive the year without missing any time. The Lakers are off to a slow start, which could end up forcing him to tough it out.
There are few, if any, players with more competitive fire than Bryant so unless the pain is simply unbearable you can fully expect to see him out there on a nightly basis.
Los Angeles has become infatuated with the Clippers, so Bryant is helping the Lakers at least remain on par with their rivals. If he was to miss an extended period of time, the Lakers would be in rough shape, both on the court and off it.
The good news is that, judging by last night's nifty play and monster performance, Bryant is feeling just fine.
