NFL Playoffs 2012: NY Giants' Easiest Way to Win Super Bowl
The New York Giants are back in the postseason after beating the Dallas Cowboys to win the NFC East.
Now, the situation they are in is similar to their Super Bowl run in 2007. If the Giants want to make it back to the Super Bowl, they will have to go through some tough teams.
This is the best-case scenario and easiest way for the Giants to get back to being champions.
Wild Card Round: Atlanta Falcons at NY Giants
1 of 4The Giants are facing the Atlanta Falcons in the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs.
The Giants are more experienced than the Falcons, and that should come into play during this game.
The Falcons have been a little inconsistent this year and are a good home team. They are, however, only .500 on the road.
The Giants obviously have no choice but to face the Falcons, but if they can win, there are different scenarios that could make the road to the Super Bowl easier for the G-Men.
Divisional Round: NY Giants at SF 49ers
2 of 4While the chances are that the Giants will have to face the Packers in this round, it is still possible that the Lions will beat the Saints, forcing a Giants matchup with Green Bay.
The Lions play the Saints in the Wild Card round, and it will be difficult for them to stop the momentum of the Saints. But if they do, the Lions will have to face the Packers in the next round and the Giants will face the 49ers.
The Giants should prefer to face the 49ers instead of the Packers for many reasons, one being that they would rather face Alex Smith instead of Aaron Rodgers.
The Giants should be rooting for the Lions this week: If the Lions win, the Giants get to face the 49ers instead of the Packers. Plus, the Lions will have knocked off arguably the best and hottest team in the playoffs.
NFC Championship Game: Detroit Lions at NY Giants
3 of 4This scenario would happen if the Lions beat the Packers and the Saints, which is not an easy task at all.
This game would be scary for the Giants, because the Lions would be riding some serious momentum.
It is, however, the only scenario that will allow the Giants to avoid both the Saints and Packers—and be at home for the NFC Championship game—which is ideal, and is probably the easiest way to get back to the Super Bowl.
Super Bowl: NY Giants Against the Denver Broncos
4 of 4If the Giants make it to the Super Bowl, the easiest opponent for them is the Denver Broncos.
Although, if the Broncos make it to the Super Bowl, the Tim Tebow divine intervention thing may be true and the Giants will have to face that.
AFC Teams the Giants Should Want to Face if They Make It to the Super Bowl
1. Denver Broncos: They have a bad quarterback.
2. Cincinnati Bengals: They are not that good and only beat bad teams.
3. Houston Texans: Without Matt Schaub, but have a good defense.
4. Pittsburgh Steelers: Big Ben is hurting, and no Mendenhall.
5. New England Patriots: Have the Patriots' number.
6. Baltimore Ravens: Solid defense and a good running game, which could give the Giants fits.
