Early National Signing Day 2023 Tracker: Updates on Notable College Football Commits

Michigan, Washington, Texas and Alabama all still have their eyes on the College Football Playoff national championship, but the rest of the top programs in the sport have turned their attention toward the future.

And that future starts with this year's early signing period.

The initial early signing day is Dec. 20, while the final signing date in the period is Dec. 22. That means many of the nation's top programs and coaches will be putting the finishing touches on the 2024 class well ahead of the traditional February signing day.

With that in mind, here is a look at some of the key information on the top classes and remaining prospects available leading into the early signing period. The player rankings are based on 247Sports' composite metric.

The Miami Hurricanes scored a major in-state win when they flipped defensive lineman Armondo Blount from Florida State, per 247Sports.

Blount is a 5-star prospect and the No. 4 defensive lineman in the 2024 class, per 247Sports' composite rankings.

Defensive lineman LJ McCray announced he will sign with the Florida Gators instead of Auburn and Florida State, per Keith Niebuhr of On 3 Sports.

McCray is a 5-star prospect and the No. 8 defensive lineman in the 2024 class, per 247Sports' composite rankings.

Quarterback DJ Lagway said on an ESPN 2 broadcast he will join the Florida Gators' 2024 recruiting class.

Lagway is a 5-star prospect and the No. 3 quarterback in the class, per 247Sports' composite rankings.

Having previously committed to Miami, 4-star running back Kevin Riley did a U-turn Wednesday and chose to sign with Alabama.

The 5'11", 195-pound ball-carrier ranks fourth at his position and 76th overall.

4-Star DL Prospect Amaris Williams Flips Commitment to Auburn from Florida

4-star defensive lineman Amaris Williams flipped his commitment Wednesday, joining Hugh Freeze and the Auburn Tigers after originally committing to the Florida Gators.

Williams is the No. 79 prospect in his class and the 12th best defensive lineman according to 247Sports' composite rankings.

4-Star Linebacker Prospect Adarius Hayes Flips Commitment to Miami from Florida

Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes got a big in-state pickup on Wednesday, flipping the commitment of linebacker Adarius Hayes from Florida.

Hayes is the 73rd overall prospect and the No. 7 linebacker in his class according to 247Sports' composite rankings.

4-Star Athlete Aeryn Hampton Flips Commitment to Alabama from Texas

4-star athlete prospect Aeryn Hampton flipped his commitment on Wednesday, joining the Alabama Crimson Tide after previously pledging to Texas.

Hampton is the 224th-best prospect in the country and the No. 11 athlete, according to 247Sports' composite rankings.

5-Star Safety KJ Bolden Flips Commitment to Georgia from Florida State

5-Star safety KJ Bolden has flipped his commitment and signed with Georgia after verbally committing to Florida State, according to ESPN's Tom VanHaaren.

According to 247Sports' composite, Bolden is the top-ranked safety in the country and ranks 14th overall among all players in the 2024 class.

5-star edge rusher Eddrick Houston will sign with Ohio State after Nick Saban and Alabama made a late push to land the star defender, according to On3.com's Hayes Fawcett.

According to 247Sports' composite, Houston is the 26th-ranked player in his class and fifth-ranked defensive lineman among all 2024 recruits.

4-star defensive lineman Steve Mboumou committed to Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide on Wednesday.

Mboumoua is the 341th overall prospect on 247Sports' composite rankings and the 41st best defensive line prospect.

4-Star Athlete Joshisa Trader Signs with Miami

Four-star athlete Joshisa Trader announced Wednesday he's signing with Miami.

The Hollywood, Florida, native is the No. 3 athlete and No. 50 prospect in the country.

5-star wide receiver prospect Jeremiah Smith committed to Ohio State on Wednesday, turning down offers from Miami and various other programs.

Smith is ranked as the top prospect in the country by 247Sports' composite rankings.

Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide are no strangers to adding elite prospects, with 5-star athlete Jaylen Mbakwe the latest to commit to the program.

Mbakwe is ranked at the No. 18 prospect in his class and the top athlete in the country.

5-Star WR Cam Williams, 4-Star OT Guerby Lambert, QB CJ Carr Among Notre Dame Signees

Notre Dame announced it finalized its signees during the December window. Twenty-three recruits will be joining the Fighting Irish.

5-star wide receiver Cam Williams is the highest-ranked prospect from the group at No. 29. Offensive tackle Guerby Lambert, quarterback CJ Carr, linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa, defensive lineman Bryce Young and running back Kedren Young all crack the top 150 in 247Sports' composite ranking.

Ohio State's loss was Oregon's gain on Wednesday as 4-star wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan flipped his commitment from the Buckeyes to the Ducks.

McClellan is ranked as the No. 49 prospect in the country and the 13th-best wide receiver in his class by 247Sports' composite rankings.

Brent Venables and the Oklahoma Sooners picked up a big commitment on the defensive side of the ball on Wednesday in defensive lineman David Stone.

Stone is ranked as the No. 9 overall prospect in the country by 247Sports' composite rankings and the second best defensive line prospect.

Ohio State has quickly become the program for elite wide receivers, and the Buckeyes will hope their newest signee is the next in line.

Mylan Graham is the seventh-best wideout for 2024.

The Gamecocks signed the second-best edge-rusher, Dylan Stewart, along with the No. 3 offensive tackle, Josiah Thompson.

Robinson is not only the best cornerback but also the top-ranked defensive back in 2024.

As expected, Kirby Smart is replenishing a Georgia defense that was decimated by the NFL draft.

The Bulldog signed Justin Williams, the top-ranked linebacker and No. 8 overall player for 2024.

Nwaneri is a 5-star defensive lineman and the No. 2 recruit in the country.
