2012 NFL Draft Order: Where Will Jonathan Martin, Top O-Linemen End Up?

Zach KruseJun 7, 2018

While widely expected across the NFL draft landscape, Stanford offensive tackle Jonathan Martin announced Tuesday that he will forgo his senior season and enter the 2012 NFL draft. He tweeted the news several hours after Stanford lost in overtime to Oklahoma State in the Fiesta Bowl.

Where will Martin land? Let's quickly run down where Martin and other top offensive linemen in the 2012 NFL draft could end up in April.

1. Indianapolis Colts (2-14)

2. St. Louis Rams (2-14)

3. Minnesota Vikings (3-13)

Unless Martin blows away the combine in Indianapolis, the first lineman off the board in April will likely be USC's Matt Kalil. He has the size and athleticism that every NFL GM wants in their franchise left tackle.

The Vikings are a likely landing spot at No. 3, as they need to rebuild their offensive line to safeguard 2011 first-round pick Christian Ponder.

4. Cleveland Browns (4-12)

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-12)

6. Washington Redskins (5-11)

7. Jacksonville Jaguars (5-11)

8. Miami Dolphins (6-10)*

With Vernon Carey set to leave in free agency and no elite quarterback likely to be available at No. 8 or No. 9, the Dolphins could go for an offensive tackle.

Martin, Iowa's Riley Reiff and Ohio State's Mike Adams could all be possibilities.

8. Carolina Panthers (6-10)*

10. Buffalo Bills (6-10)

11. Seattle Seahawks (7-9)**

11. Kansas City Chiefs (7-9)**

Kansas City could be another landing spot for an offensive tackle, including Martin. The Chiefs may also take a long look at David DeCastro, Martin's teammate at Stanford.

Guards usually aren't taken this high, but many consider DeCastro the best guard prospect they've seen in years.

13. Arizona Cardinals (8-8)

If Martin isn't picked in the first 12 picks, I doubt he gets past No. 13. The Cardinals have other holes, but continuing to rebuild their offensive line has to rank near the top of Arizona's offseason priorities.

Martin could start immediately at right tackle and then slide over to left when deemed ready.

14. Dallas Cowboys (8-8)

15. Philadelphia Eagles (8-8)

16. New York Jets (8-8)

17. Cincinnati Bengals (from Oakland) (8-8)

18. San Diego Chargers (8-8)

The Chargers have major issues on the offensive line and could see new players at several positions in 2012. Kris Dielman may retire, Marcus McNeil has a lingering neck injury and Jared Gaither is a free agent.

Finding a replacement in the first round seems like a worthy investment.

19. Chicago Bears (8-8)

20. Tennessee Titans (9-7)

21. Denver Broncos (8-8)

22. New York Giants (9-7)

23. Cincinnati Bengals (9-7)

24. Detroit Lions (10-6)

25. Cleveland Browns (from Atlanta Falcons)

26. Houston Texans (10-6)

27. Pittsburgh Steelers (12-4)

28. Baltimore Ravens (12-4)

29. New England Patriots (from New Orleans)

30. San Francisco 49ers (13-3)

31. New England Patriots (13-3)

32. Green Bay Packers (15-1)
