Waiver Wire Week 12: Odell Beckham Jr., Zach Charbonnet Highlight Pickups to Know

Zach BuckleyNov 20, 2023

Week 11 of the 2023 NFL season isn't quite yet complete—the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs will close it out Monday night—but there are already a number of potential pickups making noise on the waiver wire.

Fantasy football managers would be wise to take note.

Even if you don't have any holes to fill at the moment, that can change in an instant in this league. Just ask the folks rostering Joe Burrow and Mark Andrews, who both suffered season-ending injuries this week.

You should always be looking for ways to improve your roster, and the following three players—all available in 50-plus percent of Yahoo leagues, per FantasyPros—could help upgrade your squad.

Odell Beckham Jr., WR, Baltimore Ravens (29 Percent Rostered)

For most of the season, Beckham offered name recognition and very little else in the fantasy realm.

The tide is turning on that front.

On Thursday, the veteran pass-catcher turned his seven targets into four receptions for a season-high 116 yards. It was the third time in his last five games with that many targets. In his previous two outings, his stat line featured a touchdown catch.

The Ravens have plenty of targets to go around with Andrews on the shelf, and Beckham is making a compelling case to see the majority of those chances.

Zach Charbonnet, RB, Seattle Seahawks (43 Percent Rostered)

In recent weeks, Charbonnet had been pushing to turn Seattle's backfield into a timeshare.

The oblique injury that knocked starting running back Kenneth Walker III out of Sunday's contest may have just given Charbonnet total control of this ground game instead.

If Walker misses any time—Seattle has a quick turnaround with a Thanksgiving clash against the San Francisco 49ers on deck—Charbonnet should immediately become a set-him-and-forget-him starter in fantasy. The rookie second-rounder hasn't found the end zone yet, but that's about it for disappointments on his stat sheet. He's made things happen as a ball-carrier and a pass-catcher, tallying 131 scrimmage yards on 21 carries and 10 receptions over the last two weeks combined.

The kind of volume Charbonnet could potentially see is almost impossible to find on the waiver wire at this time of year. That makes him a priority target, even if his upcoming matchup is less than ideal.

Jayden Reed, WR, Green Bay Packers (34 Percent Rostered)

While it's still unclear how the Packers view their pass-catching hierarchy, one thing is certain: They want to involve Reed however they can.

The rookie second-rounder has caught passes, returned punts and even handled a few carries. It's that latter skill that should have the full attention of fantasy managers this week.

In Week 9, the Packers gave him a carry, and he took it 21 yards. On Sunday, that bumped that number to three carries, and he promptly turned them into 46 yards and a score. He also saw six targets—the third time he's had five or more in the last four weeks—and caught four of them for another 46 yards.

Green Bay seemingly recognizes it has an all-purpose playmaker on its hands. If the Packers keep him involved, he could put up really interesting numbers down the stretch.
